Can anyone tell me what they do with the dogs they catch, when I asked the officer he didn't understand my question. I know they dont have a compound, Girne compound dont take them, and KAR dont take them. They are coming tomorrow to put 2 cages outside our house to catch our 2 street dogs, one of them is a KAR registered dog and the other is a husky cross who we had speyed, we explained this to the officer and all he could say was any dog on the street will be caught.

Can anyone help with this?
Has anyone got any contacts with the Catalkoy Belediyesi.
These dogs are being cared for far better than most out here but because the family have already got a multiple number of house dogs they have their own kennels out side.
KAR? or anyone how can the Belediyesi take one of your tagged street dogs?
HELP and answers would be appreciated.
BBB's other half.

I would hide the dogs tomorrow in someone's garden... I dread to think what happens to the dogs.

Assuming this information is first hand knowledge then of course the Belediye cannot take a KAR tagged dog. How do you know it isn't their intention to hand it back to KAR. Girne, Lefkosa, Gaza tag their dogs also, but a different colour. To say that KAR will not look after one of their tagged animals is totally untrue. Obviously someone in the area must have objected to the dogs being around, otherwise the Belediye would not be going to the trouble of obtaining cages and traps. I can only reiterate what "if only" has said, ring the office asap on Monday morning. KAR will certainly intervene on behalf of the tagged dog, but are not in a position to take in a perfectly healthy, spayed (other) dog. Particularly if it is a "local" animal being looked after by yourselves. They are awash with puppies.

Sophie. It is first hand knowledge, they knocked at my door, as I said in my first post I spoke to an officer. They were not interested that Alice is a KAR dog. When the Husky x turned up we contacted Kar to inform off the fact, but they couldn't take her and told us to contact the Bele which we did, they didn't want to know and told us to go to KAR, then we went to Girne but because she is in Catalkoy they wouldn't tag her. We offered to pay for the operation but wanted her tagged as we have 5 dogs of our own. No one wanted to know. We went to the Mayor who sent us somewhere else and they said they were busy but would call us, that never happened either. Alice and Lady are not the problem in the street, there are 2 locals who have 5 dogs between them who they let out on their own and cause mischief, one is a female husky who lives outside caged up and hasn't been speyed. We have complained to the owners and explained that it will be Alice and Lady who will get into trouble but a shrug of the shoulders was all we got. poison was threatened by a neighbour and poison was put down although we cant prove who it was, Alice was poisoned and luckily a neighbour saw her unwell, she came for us and we got her to the vet, she survived, I contacted Kar to let them know and to tell them again that her life is in danger because Lady was dumped in our area, still nothing can be done. So we speyed lady built her a kennel and she is Alice's besty. I have no intention of Kar intervening in Ladies care. You said that it's untrue KAR wont look after their own, Alice is the second KAR dog in our street, the first one we had to put to sleep because she had leish I informed them and they did nothing, she wouldn't get in a car for us to take her to the vet, so KAR took the details and said a van would come, that didn't happen, so the vet came to our house saw her sores and took blood tests which proved she was very ill, so we put her to sleep in the street, and they didn't get involved with Alice being poisoned, they didn't even bother to call to see how she was doing. I wouldn't go to KAR for help again, we have asked for help on numerous occasions and never once been assisted. I know they are limited in what they can do but so are we. I know the bele wont take Alice back to Kar because as I said in my first post, I asked where they would take them if they caught them and he didn't answer made out he didn't understand. So what else am I supposed to think. Alice belongs here where she is loved and cared for as does Lady, not in a compound or kennels, or moved to another place, or put in a grave.

Get the media involved with full, accurate and honest accounting. Name and shame any/all organisations/individuals who have caused these animals to suffer.

It doesn't sound like Chrispyb has time to get media etc involved.

I don't know what the answer is but if it was me - I would take the dogs to be micro chipped tomorrow so they have a 'legal' owner and that should buy time as they have no right to take the dogs....

How awful for you Chrispyb...

We thought about microchipping them and registering them as we have with our others, but they then become ours, and when we go away we can't afford 7 dogs in kennels. Also, that won't make a difference as they would still be on the street, we tried tonight to get them into the front garden and shut the gate but they wouldn't have it. I am staying outside tomorrow to see if I can get some photos. I am sure they won't go into the cage as they won't be hungry (that's assuming they put food in) but if they come with a lead they will go to them. They sit in the park and let the kids play and touch them, they are so nice natured, except for motorbikes which they like to chase they haven't got a bad bone in them.

Some good news, my neighbour who is fluent in Turkish has written a letter which explains everything that is happening and delivered it to the Bele this morning. They have agreed to give us a week longer, my neighbour is going to get Lady registered and microchipped on Wednesday to her address. Then it's a case of wait and see what happens next week. I am still unsure if it will make any difference by getting her registered and microchipped. Her and Alice will still be on the street, we built a couple of kennels and placed them in our drive, so they are not literally in the street. Fingers crossed.

Well that is good news - thank you for the update - what a good neighbour you have.

If the dog is chipped it will be very difficult for them to take away - you don't stand much chance if the dog isn't chipped.

This may have saved the dogs life's....

Hope everything goes well next week, what a good person you are along with your neighbour. If I was there I would help with the cost but won't be back until December.
