Re: Kyrenia Animal Rescue Appeal Link
Great idea but I wold urge anyone who possibly can to donate direct to KAR as GoFundMe take a % of the donations which has has made them very rich indeed!
KAR have bank accounts in Cyprus & UK & will receive 100% of any money donated this way

Re: Kyrenia Animal Rescue Appeal Link
What KAR are trying to do is to make it as easy as possible to donate. By setting up a Go Fund Me page, the link can quite easily be advertised and shared via social media so it reaches more people. Also people can donate by credit card if they choose to. I know that Go Fund Me make a charge but the last thing KAR needs right at this moment are posts that may put people off donating. They need as much money as possible via whatever means available to them, to raise money to help these poor dogs at the rescue centre.

Re: Kyrenia Animal Rescue Appeal Link
Hi Ozankoys - yes it i better to donate directly i agree but sometimes it can be difficult for people to get to a bank or they cannot do online banking etc and GoFundMe may be an easier option for them. Better some donation than none i think.
However it is donated as long as it helps KAR during this awful time which is no doubt going to cost them lots and lots for all of the treatments they have already had and the rest that they will still need - its expensive enough with just 1 or 2 pets BUT with 300 to treat even with a discount !!!!!

Re: Kyrenia Animal Rescue Appeal Link
There are several advantages to Gofundme
credit cards can be used
a receipt is automatically generated
there is a dedicated webpage which gives details of the appeal
the money is easily accountable
The page links to all sorts of social media, this nowadays is very important.
Payment is easy
People can leave messages of support, quite important, not an easy job at the center at the moment, not that`s it`s ever easy!

Yes of course I was not suggesting that people do not use GoFundMe it is a fantastic idea but maybe not everyone realises that they make a charge & the Charity does not receive quite all of the donation.

Can we keep this at the top can see that £1500 has been donated on the GoFundMe page it would be interesting if KAR could publish details of the direct donations in due course plus an update on the situation.

That target is getting there. Such a worthy cause. Well done to Patricia for setting this up.
