Travel insurance recommendations
I have used the search facility but it's been a while since companies have been recommended. Looking for travel insurance for 2 trips both departing from Larnaca, one within Europe and the other to Middle East. Either single trip or annual. We live in TRNC so must be valid from here. Mainly looking for medical/repatriation type cover but insurance that covers cancellation, personal items, etc would be preferable.
Any recommendations for companies that will pay out if there is a valid claim?

We use Staysure. As far as I know they are the only ones who insure from TRNC.

Bert, as a matter of interest, which country do you say you live in? Cyprus or Turkey? Also I understand you need to be registered with a doctor here, we were with Dr Turk at VIP med but haven't needed to see a doctor in about 5 years.

We have just bought travel insurance for the USA.
We live in Karsiyaka.
We used Ceremi Travel, policy in both Turkish and English and they will insure the over 70's.
Address: Karaoğlanoğlu Caddesi E 48

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
Paul, that's interesting. I read on another post that their insurance only starts from Turkey. As we are leaving from Cyprus and not going via Turkey then I assumed we couldn't be covered. Do you know if that's wrong?

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
I am not certain although the policy says that commencement is from time of leaving the TRNC until return to TRNC.
We are going from Ercan to Istanbul for our flight to the USA.

I too would be interested in Naim's reply. I use his holiday insurance and on one occasion I claimed a large sum for treatment incurred during a cruise - they paid in full within 3 weeks or so. I was however, under the impression that the insurance starts from Turkey, so waiting with baited breath!I am not certain although the policy says that commencement is from time of leaving the TRNC until return to TRNC.

An honest and knowledgeable expert on insurance in the TRNC is Anthony from azant (0533 833 0841). The office is in Alsancak, near the Green Petrol sign. I am unrelated!
Re: Travel insurance recommendations
Staysure travel insurance (based in UK - staysure.co.uk), offer expat travel insurance from Cyprus (including TRNC).
There are some conditions-
Must live in TRNC for total of 6 months per annum as a min
Holidays must start and end in TRNC and there is a limit to length of holiday.
Must be registerd with a doctor in TRNC
The usual medical questions appl re pre existing and current health are asked before cover will be provided.

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
Come on aylan guess you have got your answer Stay sure see Cyprus as an Island not as north and south so country is in Cyprus. Be aware that if you don’t take out annual and you travel through Istanbul and anything goes wrong whilst in Istanbul your cover is not valid

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
So to clarify single trip insurance and you travel via Turkey not covered for claim in Turkey. If you take out annual cover then you are covered

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
Bert - I always take single trip cover with Staysure (don't usually know if I'll take more than one trip in a year) and as I always fly via Istanbul I make sure I add it in the policy under other countries being visited. I think it makes a slightly cost but better safe than sorry.

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
Thanks for the replies, I emailed Ceremi Travel last night but haven't received a reply yet but it is looking like Staysure. I've used them before years ago making sure they understood where we lived, I just need to register with a doctor, probably Dr Turk.

Re: Travel insurance recommendations
I always use Staysure and as other posters state they consider Cyprus as an island as whole and cover from here but email them as they are usually pretty responsive and reply promptly so you have it in writing for yourself.
In addition I have just completed (this month) my first claim with them successfully
