I have recently started to visit the new woodland walkway in Alsancak (opposite Escape Beach) where a really pleasant walking track has been set into the old forestry area.
Walking around there , it is impossible not to notice the hundreds of small stacks of stones that have obviously been left by visitors and which are everywhere you look.
Can anyone advise as to the purpose of these stones?
I can recommend the walkway and there is a nice little cafe and children's play area that has also been built.
At the far end of the area (towards Savarona Village) there is some construction work occurring. I have it in my mind that this is going to be a mini zoo. Could anyone confirm this? or am I confusing myself?

Re: Piles of Stones
I don't know about the piles of stones, but i was shown the plans by the two persons who were working on the project, and the construction work is for tennis courts & basketball courts. There is also going to be a restuarant/cafe and a small shop/supermarket at that end as well.
I was told there was going to be a sensory garden/play area for disabled children, but a decision hadn't been made where this will be located.
At the other end, just past the existing cafe/entrance, there is going to be a tunnel under the road to the Belydesi beach in front of the monument.
For your information.

The stones are a local art form. Not sure what they mean. Also see them sometimes on Alagadi beach
