Letters to north Cyprus
We’ve had a letter sent special delivery to North Cyprus using Royal Mail from England.
The tracking says it is currently in Larnaca. Is this normal? I thought all mail to TRNC went via Turkey?
Cheers

Oh dear, it sounds as though they included the word 'Cyprus' in the address - all mail to here should be addressed 'Mersin10, Turkey' with no mention of Cyprus or North Cyprus or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.Trigger wrote:We’ve had a letter sent special delivery to North Cyprus using Royal Mail from England.

It will probably be returned to sender as undeliverable due to it being addressed to the 'Occupied Areas'.

You may be able to get it from the south if you are able to cross over ?

Unfortunately I am not on the island until the end of June. Will probably be quicker for it to return to UK and then get it sent properly.erol wrote:You may be able to get it from the south if you are able to cross over ?

Re: Letters to north Cyprus
How should it be addressed???
Any mention of the street or city here in North Cyprus?
"My name"
"The street Address/#"
"The City"
"Mersin10, Turkey"
I've had people send me letter and NEVER gotten a one of them!

Re: Letters to north Cyprus
Just checked and the address we used was the address via Mersin-10 Turkey but I think the old dear must have then added Cyprus in brackets for clarification.

We live in Esentepe, all our mail now has Mersin 10 crossed out altogether on any mail we receive.
We have been told just to use the postcode, ours is 99400 and mail is getting here usually within 7-10 days now instead of the usual 2-4 weeks.

Re: Letters to north Cyprus
Click on the 'Directory' tab at the top of the page then the 'TRNC Postcodes' are on the right side not too far from the top.
Hope this helps.

Re: Letters to north Cyprus
Sadly, that is no guarantee - a couple of years back, I sent a letter (police report for PTP) via Royal Mail International Tracked using Mersin 10 - it got to Istanbul, was "returned to sender" - Belfast(?) - I live near Manchester! - and eventually returned - NOT TO ME (the recorded sender) - but to the Police Headquarters office - who then threw it in the bin!Keithcaley wrote: Oh dear, it sounds as though they included the word 'Cyprus' in the address - all mail to here should be addressed 'Mersin10, Turkey' with no mention of Cyprus or North Cyprus or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

So I had to repeat the whole process......

Still saying that it is Lefkoşa. No progress since 30th although it now says UN next to it!

Still nothing. Tracking says it is at Lefkoşa and it now has a UN signatory notification number... whatever that is.
I have now got back in touch with the post office in UK to see why it ended up in south Cyprus when the address stated Mersin 10, Turkey. It was recorded delivery too.

Re: Letters to north Cyprus
Ha, it’s funny you should mention that, I have just finished sorting it out again, this time using DHL. £43 for the privilege mind, but if it means it definitely gets there, then so be it. Wish we could just email the document over, would have been much easier / cheaper.Yes and no wrote:Use dhl in future,I still don’t understand with all the tech available nowadays why you have to send letters especially when you know all the problems that comes with it. That is actually pretty impressive. From UK to south. south postal service hand it to UN. UN pass it to trnc postal service. Finally arrives. If the timings had been better I may have been able to collect from the south postal service before they handed it to the UN but unfortunately the timings did not work out that way.Trigger wrote:Just had a message to say the letter has arrived in North Cyprus.
