Karsiyaka water

Hi is anyone else having problems with their water supply? We are seaside just after Jessics towards the square and our water is not coming through as normal. Yesterday our tanks were banging as if a wild animal was trapped inside! Also seemed to be getting air as well as a trickle of water. Plumber coming out tomorrow in case it's grunge in the meter filter or something else but would be interested to know if it's just us as no one else is in our street till later this week.

Our supply has dried up this morning (near the Green Palace restaurant). Don't yet know if it's a very temporary thing, it did happen last year for a day or two then returned to normal. It could be a supply and demand thing as we have a very small supply pipe and are at the end of the line, I believe.

Mark, Have you tried going to the office with your card and asking for a further supply?

Could the local belediye have supplied you with a smart water meter? They have done so for me whilst not in the TRNC and one needs to purchase water supply in advance.

I went to the meter with the card just to see if there was a problem. I put the card in, pressed the button and the wheel started going crazy. We have 114 tonnes in credit but for some reason it was not letting the water through. All is well now. This is a worry because it hasn't happened before and I can't think why it would just stop in mid-stream, as it was coming through OK this morning.

114 tonnes in credit!! That's the best part of 12 months supply - what are you going to do with it all?
Are you sure it isn't 11.4 tonnes?

The Kredi reading is a value not a tonnage as there is a sliding scale based on speed of delivery... i.e. as consumption speed increases so the rapidity with which your credit runs out also increases...

They do lock up occasionally so if water intake appears to be off it's worth seeing if re-presenting the smart card and pressing the button will rectify the situation as it did in your case Mark. That way when you do need to pay the 'belly' a visit because that did not fix the problem, you can say 'been there, done that' .

Mark, I think your issue on Monday was due to a weekend long water leak just along from the big house behind you, in front of us. We reported it to the Belediye on Friday and Saturday and then again on Monday...they kept coming out but were looking in the wrong place. Luckily as I was leaving for work on monday they turned up again and I was able to point it out to them. All OK now but I imagine it would have affected any houses on our level. Karen

Thanks for that, maybe it created an air lock which made the meter malfunction and shut down, I'm glad the leak got fixed.
