Residency for the slightly under 60's

Would like to hear from anyone who has successfully renewed their residency a few months before they are 60 years of age and been lucky enough to be granted a 2 year residency visa with or without the usual health checks.

Also interested to hear how immigration treat couples where there is a 1 year age gap. Will immigration be sympathetic and give both partners 2 year residency when 1 is 60 years old and the other 59 years old?

Depends who you see on the day was our experience regarding your first question. The girl said yes her boss said no!
The following year though we had the age gap you describe and yes we both got 2 years.

The last time we renewed, 2 years ago, we both managed to get a 2 year visa. I was 55 having gone through the usual medical carry-on and my husband was over 60 so didn't need to. The person serving us was the chap who very often gives out the tickets first thing in the morning, you may know who I mean. I asked in my best Turkish if I could get 2 years and was very surprised when he said yes, no consultation with anyone else. Obviously, it is dependent on who you get, what kind of mood they are in and if the moon is blue but if you don't ask you don't get. I'll try again this year, if only to avoid the hospital, etc. Good luck.

Not directly related, but I believe age here is governed by your next birthday not your last so a 5 year old child will describe herself as six as she is in her sixth year. That's probably why some are getting accepted when still 59. Give it a try, say you are 60.

Did ours today and even though we had not done it last year they were happy to give us both, not only two years but even dated it to ensure it ran concurrently. Which is or could be important if perm residence is required. Took me by surprise that’s for sure. They said we could leave a gap and negate having to do it for two years but that meant our required 6 year concurrent residency would effectively start again.

We were told if one partner is over 60 and the other one a bit younger then you could both have the two years. Good luck.

3 years ago I was 58 and partner 56 both of us got 2 years. Last year I didn't need to do it. Wouldn't let my partner have 2 years again (even though that time he effectively only needed it for 18 months.) He had to get 1 year.
So as others have said it's what mood they're in.
