Re: UK VPN
Thanks Libby
You do with Nethouse, which we are with and can't afford to ditch them yet as have paid until March, but if you have their free VPN then everything slows down too much to be enjoyable, have been using 6ms VPN til now but it went off this morning

I agree with Andrew4232. I pay 3 months at a time 15 pounds with paypal for My private network VPN. No hassles and easy peasy.

Re: UK VPN
Sorry Bert what are you trying to say?
I realise some people like to keep it short and sweet, but I don't understand whet you are saying.
Anyone know how to contact 6ms from forum 44? he's not replying to the email I have, he doesn't seem to be on here.
Thanks for your advise about other paying VPNs I used to subscribe to one the first year we were here but then 6ms came up with the free one and I let it lapse but I only need it for a few trivial TV programs I like to watch as a guilty pleasure, if I can't watch them for free then their not worth spending money on as their not important.

Re: UK VPN
Note sure what I am supposed to answering ?
Things I can answer - ish. It would seem Mark has either changed the password for his free VPN or stopped it all togeather. You would have to contact him directly to find out which and if he can give you a new password.
'Hide my ass' is just a 'witty' names VPN service like hundreds of other out there.
As for what alternate free VPN service there are to Marks, there are lots but all have some form of compromise vs a paid for service. Either limite usage, or very congested or force adverts onto your browers or some combination of these things. I do not have a personal recomendation for a free one (other than use multimax as your provider and use their free one - disclaimer I work for multimax).

If you join Multimax for a free VPN you only get to watch BBC1 and ITV1, not all the channels as we are led to believe.

Re: UK VPN
Hi foodie. I am not sure what you mean by 'all the channels' ? Multimax currently provides its own feeds for live streaming of BBC1 and ITV1 for its customers and these do not require the use of a VPN. In addition we also 'transparently' make all traffic to BBC sites (and only BBC sites) look as if it is comming from the UK so that customers can also use BBC iplayer without having to configure anything additionaly on their machines or devices. We then also offer a free manual VPN to our customers that does have to be set up and connected to and disconnected from manualy, that when used makes sites like ITV player, 4oD (channel 4) and Channel 5 sites work as if you were in the UK. Then there is also the third party site filmon.com that can be used without the need for a VPN that gives access to alot of UK free to air channels (this is not a multimax feature, filmon can be used with any internet connection). There is a guide to the various options for watching TV using your multimax internet connection here.foodie wrote:If you join Multimax for a free VPN you only get to watch BBC1 and ITV1, not all the channels as we are led to believe.

Re: UK VPN
Thanks Bert and Erol, when I tried Hide my ass I couldn't get what I wanted without signing up and paying.(unless I was being thick and couldn't find my way around the free bit properly
Multimax seems to be the way to go but my Nethouse contract has 4 months to run so will have to wait to change.
My neighbour is on Multimax and he has a very pour signal and is the only person I know who isn't happy with their service. I am not trying to bad mouth them as I have no problem with either supplier just that my wife does not want to change to multimax because of our neighbours pour reception

Re: UK VPN
Hi Erol,
I meant when with Multimax they can only guarantee good reception if you watch BBCiplayer or ITVplayer through their site and not directly through the BBC and ITV sites. When this was officially told to myself and when I tried it, I could only get BBC1 not 2,3,4 etc and the same with ITV only being able to get ITV1. Or am I doing something wrong?

Re: UK VPN
On the multimax website we provide a live feed of BBC1 and ITV1 for multimax customers. The point with these is that we control both the sending and the recieving end of these feeds and everything inbetween. You can get the same thing (and more) from the bbc or itv website directly or from third party sites like filmon, but with these we do not have any control of the sending end or the network from them to you until it reaches Turkey. So the feeds on our website should be more reliable because of this. When you go to a different source directly like say filmon.com it is possible that there are load issues or other issues at their end that cause the picture to stutter or break up and if that is the case there is simply nothing we can do about it, it is just outside our control.foodie wrote:Hi Erol,

The internet service Multimax offers is just that an internet service. It is not a TV service, for that we have the NTV package. Having said that you can use an internet connection, ours or other peoples, to access various TV sources and content as one of the many things you can do with an internet connection but that is not the same as a TV service. At multimax we have tried to add value to the internet package we sell, with things like the free automatic and transparent 'VPN' for BBC websites, our free manual VPN and the free BBC1 and ITV1 feeds on our website. Even without these free extras we believe that Multimax still offers the best internet packages compared to our competitors in terms of price and quality.

Re: UK VPN
Thank you Erol for the easy to understand information. However does it mean now if I want to view programmes directly on the BBC and ITV websites so as I can watch all their channels but if there is continuous buffering and freezing of the picture this is not a Multimax problem. As now even though I have joined Multimax internet I have also paid privately for a VPN. So surely if the internet connection is slow it would cause these viewing problems.

Re: UK VPN
If you get buffering when accessing video direct from third party sites it could indicate a problem that is down to us but it could also be that your multimax connection is working fine and the problem is from the sending end and outside our control. In general terms if you can stream fine from our feeds but have break up when going to a third party site it would suggest that the problem is at the sending end and not ours. Conversley if you get break up on our feeds it would indicate that the problem is in our part of the network. The feeds on our site are therefore quite a useful diagnostic tool in helping to determine where the problem is so that we can fix it if it is in our part of the network. It is also possible that break up and stuttering and pausing is caused by a local issue with a given machine as well and nothing to do with the internet connection at all at either end.foodie wrote:Thank you Erol for the easy to understand information.
