Chains are 66' long - and 10 chains x 10 chains (in area) is an acre
I remeber this from my apprentice survey course when i joined the army (just to see how difficult it was to work in chains) - luckily we quickly switched back to metres.

OK Lezana, how much is 3Donums and 2 Evlets converted to acres and then converted back to donums divided by 3. If you could let me know I'd be delighted because these offices can't agree with each other and until they do we haven't a cat in hell of getting our Title Deeds or parcelised after nearly 14 years. .

Re: New metric title deeds
Sophie - i reckon youre looking at 1.16 acres total (ie 4,683Sqm; which is same as 3.5 Donums) - then divided by three = 0.387 of an Acre - converted back = 1.17 Donum (or 4.68 Evleks) or 1,561 Sqm (this is equivalent of 16,796 Sq ft = abpprox 3.856 Sq Chains! - if there is such a unit of area)
Hope that all makes sense. im not a surveyor by the way - it was just a module of my contruction draughtsman course back in 1982 which ive long forgotten hehe.. Good Luck!

Oh. there are indeed! - although it pays to know which particular square chains you mean: -Lezana wrote:...3.856 Sq Chains! - if there is such a unit of area)...
Re: New metric title deeds
We sold our house recently in Esentepe, and we were asked by our buyers lawyer to go and get a new metric tapu. All very straightforward.

Re: New metric title deeds
When you went to get a new Tapu what documentation did you have to take with you and is this something that you can easily do yourself?
Re: New metric title deeds
Yes, all very easy. We went to the guy sat next to the cashier in the land registry office, with the original tapu paid our money, we were given a receipt which we were told not to lose as it was needed to collect the new tapu. We were told to go back in a couple of days to collect it. We had to go to the office next door up the stairs to the lady there, who gave it to us. I'm not sure if every area is in metres yet, we were just told Esentepe is now has the new metric system.

Advisable to take them anyway. Changes are daily/by the person/by time/by their mood.
Re: New metric title deeds
I can't remember if we did or not, but we always carry a copy anyway. As suggested, probably best taking it anyway.
