Dear colleagues within the forum I have always been a supporter of Turkey's involvement with TRNC. Main reason being that with their intervention in 1974 they saved many lives of my close family that were in TRNC. ( inc our dear friend Soner). However one of my cousin whom I have mentioned previously within the forum has a different view: He wrote:

The reason why we have Embargoes is becasue Turkey refuses to remove their soldiers. The consequently the thatis the reason for the deficit ofr the budget. But in anycase, I do not see it as a loan or help. I see it as a payment for all the bases they have in CYprus. When you ren a property from a country like the Americans do they pay for it by offering aid.

So perhaps if Turkey cannot afford to pay for the bases and they do hold some prime properties in Girne, they can pack up and go. There is no need for Turkey to station 30,000 troops in Cyprus. Turkish Cypriot can now defend themselves with the minimal support from Turkish Airforce. The benefit of course is that Once the Turkish Army leaves Cyprus the Embargoes will go. And of courese there is a little matter of negotiations where Turkey is ignoring Akinci and the TCS will and blocking negotiations.

There is only one way forward and that is peace with GCs under BBF. If BBF cannot be negotiated it will be two states. But Erdoganis even blocking that. Akinci has Anastasiades cornered and Erdogan is helping Anastasiades by blocking the talks.
