Passport Renewal - what address to use?
I plan to renew 2 UK passports using the DHL Courier Service that operates out of the Dagli Sigorta office in Karaoanagnolu(?). I know I have to apply and pay on-line and they send us a form for each passport which we sign and return with the old passports and 2 photos of each applicant. Now for the question!
When filling in the on-line form, do I put our TRNC address, or the address of the Dagli Sigorta office, which is where DHL collect our old passports, and where they deliver the new ones (and the old ones separately)?
Thanks. PB

Ask the people at the Dağlı Sıgorta Office!
They will know!
Why ask anyone else?

What a stupid response. Why do you bother if you have nothing to offer?
The people at Dagli simply act as a collection/delivery point and take no part in the proceedings.
This is the third time I have had to dissect a ridiculous response from you - will you ever learn?
While you often have excellent advice to offer, I would prefer it if you did not bother to respond to my posts unless you have something positive to say.

Re: Passport Renewal - what address to use?
You put your TRNC address on, it will be delivered then to Dagli when it's completed and they will ring you to collect it, you usually have to go twice as your new passport and the old one are sent separately. It's very quick and straightforward.

When I renewed mine Mary Hughes rang to say that my passport was at the office ready for collection, obviously you had a different experience, either way passports were delivered .
Why do people have to split hairs over trivial things, quite childish.

- if Dağlı sigorta didn't know by now, they wouldn't still be in business!
Why don't you try asking them, instead of soliciting out of date information from forum members?
What is your problem?

A quick scan through the above posts would, I think, reveal who it is that has the problem. May I refer you to the last sentence in my Msg 3?Why don't you try asking them, instead of soliciting out of date information from forum members?
What is your problem?
Thank you Elizabeth and TomSteel for answering with courtesy, the question I asked and for confirming that the information I requested is of use to those considering passport renewal, and is far from 'out of date'.

Papabravo, I will continue to post what I want, where I want, within the constraints of the Forum rules.
If you post a query on a Public Forum, you can expect to get a variety of responses, from people whose reactions to the point being raised is markedly different from each other. Not every response is going to be the one that you want, no matter how well intentioned each individual poster is.
Here is a piece of 'Positive Advice' for you: -
Read all of the responses, decide which piece of advice you would prefer to take heed of, and follow that advice, rather than posting churlish remarks about the advice which did not meet with your approval.
As with all the free advice which I dispense on this Forum, there is no compulsion to follow it - or, indeed, to respond!

KC
And here is a piece of advice for you - think before you respond, and if you have nothing to offer, stay silent. In this particular case your original response is demolished by 2 helpful people who chose to give me the answer I sought.
Life really is too short to get bogged down in pointless discussion with keyboard warriors, so may I refer you again to the last sentence in my Message 3 above?

Papabravo, I will continue to post what I want, where I want, within the constraints of the Forum rules.
I would point out that the two posts which you seem to regard so highly actually contradicted each other - one said that you have to collect the passport from the agent's office, and the other one said that you don't.
Can all of the advice from either poster then be trusted 100% ??
I would suggest that they optimum way to resolve this question is by following my original advice, which was offered in good faith, and which I stand by.
I would never seek or rely on 2nd hand information when access to an informed source - the actual handling agent, in this case - is so easy. However, it's your choice, as I said, when you ask a question on a Forum you can expect a variety of answers, and it's up to you which one you trust.
You have a nice day now.
Note to tomsteel and elizabeth: I am in no way casting aspersions on the accuracy or truthfullness of either of your posts, as your experiences may obviously have differed. I am simply trying to debate a point, which is after all, what the primary use of a Forum is!

Re: Passport Renewal - what address to use?
I applied online, paid online,--with the help of my son and a friend, - then-within hours heard from Passport Office that all was in order. 20 days later received a phone call from DHL, met the delivery man at Lapta PO within the hour. Received new Passport, and old one was delivered in similar fashion 7 days later. Superb service.

Re: Passport Renewal - what address to use?
Lets put this to bed once and for all!
You said
Also in your original 'advice' you said
Incidentally, I have just received the following unsolicited PM from someone who is clearly following this thread (note that I did not use the word 'debate' for obvious reasons):
"KC was just as rude on the old 44 Forum. This is why I, along with several others, make little comment on this forum. The exception being the odd snippet of info which I try to help others with. (Which will also not encourage a tangle with this rude cadre of friends).
But this man along with several other familiar names from 44 are best left to it, and we can watch and laugh at their demeanour !
But you have my admiration for tackling him, and I am sure that of many others too". End of PM.
The fact is that if you had not come back with your initial, totally pointless reply, this matter would have been quickly resolved, as it was, by sensible Forum users. I realise that I could have ignored it, but sometimes supercilious responses demand to be challenged.
Have a lovely day, but please don't waste any more of my time with your repetitive nonsense - I have a life to live.
You said
Your original advice wasI would suggest that they optimum way to resolve this question is by following my original advice, which was offered in good faith, and which I stand by.
But, as I have pointed out, Dagli simply off a service where they act as a collection and delivery point for the Courier. They DO NOT get involved with any of the paperwork involved. I hope that is clear enough for you.Ask the people at the Dağlı Sıgorta Office!
Also in your original 'advice' you said
I would have thought that this was self evident. I asked on the Forum because I was fairly sure someone could answer the question I posed - and sure enough someone did!Why ask anyone else?
Dagli Sigorta are in the business of providing insurance - the clue is in their name. The courier service is simply an extra service they provide.if Dağlı sigorta didn't know by now, they wouldn't still be in business!
I think the first part of the sentence has been answered above. With regard to the second part, is it not a little arrogant to decide arbitrarily what is or isn't 'out of date information'? It is relevant to me at the moment and will be to anyone seeking to use the Courier Service offered by Dagli to get their passports renewed. Why don't you try asking them, instead of soliciting out of date information from forum members?
Actually, the contradiction you mention was in the method of collection of passports once delivered by the Courier, nothing to do with the veracity of the response given by Elizabeth - so in essence, you are nit-picking in your desperation to get the last word.I would point out that the two posts which you seem to regard so highly actually contradicted each other - one said that you have to collect the passport from the agent's office, and the other one said that you don't.
Of course not; you pose a question and evaluate the responses, then select the information you decide is relevant to your query. Can all of the advice from either poster then be trusted 100% ??
Agree, but as I have pointed out several times, neither Dagli nor the Courier offer advice on this matter, which just left Forum members, and guess what? I received the response I was seeking from a Forum member, who clearly did not consider my question to be 'out of date'.I would never seek or rely on 2nd hand information when access to an informed source - the actual handling agent, in this case - is so easy.
As is your inalienable right, just don't bother to respond to any of my posts with the sort of nonsense you chose to send on this occasion in response to my genuine question.Papabravo, I will continue to post what I want, where I want, within the constraints of the Forum rules.

Re: Passport Renewal - what address to use?
Papabravo, you refer to my initial post as 'Supercilious'!
I am at a loss as to understand why - my post was well-intentioned and offered, I believe the best solution which would get you the information that you needed. You were perfectly at liberty to ignore it of course, but chose instead to belittle my effort to help, saying
I do not agree with what you have written, but I have not resorted to insults.
- and in that vein, I might add that posting an alleged anonymous insult 'from someone else' (according to you) is pretty poor form.
If you cannot make your point without such tactics, then perhaps it is you who should reconsider their position.
I generally find that when someone is losing an argument, they resort to insults
Anyway, I can confirm 100% that the advice that I gave you is the correct advice!
How?
I followed my own advice, and rang them, seeing as how you couldn't be bothered to do so!
They said "Put your own address on the form. Do NOT seal the envelope, as Dağlı Sigorta will put a covering letter in the envelope explaining why the return address is their office, not your own home address."
They said that they have been doing this for a long time, and it works, and they obviously know the procedures involved 'inside out', contrary to your assertion that:
Enjoy the rest of your day!

When I used Dagli Sigorta for renewing my passport earlier this year, I found them very helpful regarding advice for completing the form etc.

Re: Passport Renewal - what address to use?
I put my home address on my application and then I used Dagli Sigorta, they printed a letter for me to sign a letter explaining why my passport had to be delivered back to their office and it came back after 3 weeks!
Dagli do not charge for this service it is only the DHL charge which I think was 60 Euros and it is easier for DHL to deliver to a central pick up place rather than driving around trying to find addresses over here which could delay in receiving your passport(s) back
