Alternative to Health Insurance - Emergency Stability Health Insurance

For foreigners and locals alike, private health insurance can sometimes be very expensive and sometimes just not affordable. In North Cyprus we have no free healthcare service and you have to pay for doctor visits and/or hospital stays.

Azant Insurance in conjunction with Zirve Sigorta are pleased to offer Emergency Health Insurance which was introduced to the island back in 2015. This is an ideal product to cover you in emergency situations and is available at a price that is affordable for everyone. It should be understood that this is not a traditional Health Insurance which deals with ongoing sickness or long term illness. It is a product for getting you stable following an agreed medical emergency. The provider of thsi product has recently started removing it from comapnies here in North Cyprus and we are happy to say we are continuing to sell this product and we know it works, it pays out as long as the conditions are that listed on the policy.

• Fever above 39°C
• Foreign Object in the Respiratory Tract
• Foreign Object Likely to Obstruct the Digestive Tract

You are also entitled to one free Physio appointment, one dental check-up, one set of blood tests (*) and one dietician visit at a specific clinic in Lefkosa. The value of these tests are almost the same price as the policy purchase so very good value for money.

(*) The Blood Tests included with the 10,000 TL Policy includes:- Fasting blood test, Cholestoral test, tryglicerides, urea test, creatin test, blood enzyme test (AST and ALT)
(*)The Blood Tests included with the 25,000 TL Policy includes:- the tests above plus Uric acid test, alkaline tests and full blood count test
(*) The Blood Tests included with the 50,000 TL Policy includes:- the above tests plus calcium test, phosphorus test, iron test, erythrocyte sedimentation test and thyroid test.

Please Note:
• Everyone between the ages of 2 and 69 living in the TRNC may purchase the Emergency Stability Health Insurance Product from Azant in
conjunction with Zirve Insurance.
• A health declaration must be completed before the Insurance Policy is produced.
• Policy period is 1 year duration and a new form must be completed each year.
• A 24/7 Call Centre Number is available in English and Turkish
• This Emergency Stability Health Insurance is valid in the TRNC and Turkey only.

It should be understood that only conditions/situations listed on the policy are what is covered by this product. This is not a product that can be used for general health issues such as doctor visits, flu, etc. It also doesnt cover chronic Please ensure you read the policy very carefully and that you understand your cover. If in any doubt about your policy you can contact a member of the Azant Insurance team who will happily explain the policy to you.

It is preferable to attend one of the private hospitals listed below as they are fully aware of the Insurance product you have and can act quickly to get automatic payment.

I had emergency cover last year. I experienced health problems, ie. I had a heart attack for one, but when I tried to make a claim, I was not covered. They baffled me with excuses, in the end I gave up, which is just what they hoped for, I'm sure.

Hard luck if you are over 69 obviously you are more likely to make a claim.

Deniz1 - If you are over 69 then there is Personal Accident Insurance available which goes up to aged 89. We are working to get an emergency health product in place for up to 75 but we have not been able to finalise this as yet. We have had a number of claims on personal accident for over 69s and this pays out also in personal accident situations.

Flowerfairy, I am not sure who you are so I cant comment on what happened to you or why but I did call the Insurance provider who are Inter Partner Assistance in Turkey and they confirmed that they have never declined anyone with a heart attack as such but they did say there was one instance when someone thought she had a heart attack but the hospital report stated that it was not a heart attack at all but some kind of chronic heart disease. This was not via our agency.

All I can say is that if the condition is one of the conditions listed on the policy then the Insurance covers it. We have many satisfied customers who have claimed and had no issues at all.

Well to be fair there are two ways to look at it depending on whether the hospital prices have gone up. Yes the TL is high against the GBP which means your TL 50,000 of cover for the gold product is worth a little over £6,000? Not a fortune for private hospital care

Happy with the product, my wife has it because it is always wise to have some form of health insurance. Sadly falling into the +69, but under the 89 age bracket I can not have it. As I have been waiting for the finalisation of the "up to 75" bracket for an emergency health product for the past year I think that by the time it arrives - if ever - then I will probably have "aged" myself out of that bracket as well - lol. No complaints here, this is Cyprus and things take time to happen. So what am I left with? Obviously the >69 but <89 product of "Personal Accident Insurance"! As this is for "accidents" then I would not expect any previous health issues to count so it should only really be regarding the age of the applicant - if that is so, would you care to give an indication of the annual cost for such an insurance please?

The Personal Accident product costs 650 TL for the year.

I agree with what you are saying above EnjoyingTheSun but hospital prices are given in TL at the majorit of these hospitals for emergency services and have not all changed in line with the TL/GBP change.

I personally claimed a few weeks ago on my 50,000 TL package as I tripped and thought I had broken my ankle. I went to the Suat Gunsel hospital and was processed through the emergency department immediately, seen by a doctor, told me I needed a Tomogaphy scan as xray would not show enough details. I then met with doctor again 20 mins after the scan and luckily was just soft tissue damage. My bill was just over 700 TL and they called the Insurance and all was paid.

So I agree that 6000 GBP is not a lot but this is not health insurance, its emergency/stability only and well worth the money in my opinion.
