Driving in the South after deal / no deal Brexit

Has anyone on here looked into what is going to happen re driving in South Cyprus (ROC) after Brexit, with a deal or no deal situation.

If the UK is no longer an EU member, will the South accept our UK licences by special arrangement or will they say they are no longer valid?

This could be a problem for us who live in the North, our UK licence and also TC licence may both be invalid in the ROC.

I understand that you can swap your UK licence for a ROC licence but you have to surrender the UK licence in order to get a ROC licence. This of course means that the EU ROC licence may no longer be valid in the UK after Brexit has taken place.

Thanks in advance.

This item should not be in the SALES area of the Forum - please can a moderator move it before too many responses happen?

Whilst waiting for this to be moved - the following may be of help.

Suggest you use the search function on this topic as much has already been discussed. You can only exchange your UK/EU license for a RoC/EU license if you can provide proof that you have lived in the RoC for a period of six months - and that is just the start of the problem. Go and Google it for the most up to date information, it is all there for you to find if you are truly interested. Good luck.

I am presuming that TRNC licences must be currently accepted on the South side so there should not be a problem for holders of those licences.

The UK Gv't have warned that International Driving Licences may be necessary for driving in EU countries after Brexit.

I understand those licences are available from some UK Post Offices, although I am not sure how we shall manage that from here unless we visit the UK.

the only Nationality that ROC will allow to drive in ROC on a TRNC driving licence are Turkish Cypriots.

All other Nationalities must have either a current Driving licence issued by another Country, OR an ROC driving licence, which as stated in msg2, you can only obtain if you live in ROC for a minimum of 6 months...

http://www.cyprus.gov.cy/portal/portal. ... =0&lang=en

There you go - all you ever wanted to know about getting a driving license in the Republic of Cyprus - it is all in Greek, obviously - just make sure that you have your translator running in Google Chrome (with Greek as a language of course) before you hit on the URL. There used to be an English version and by law there has to be a Turkish version, sadly neither of them are now available - lol.
