Steps to re-register a car

Does anyone know the correct/official step by step procedure to re-register a car? I have heard so many variations it is making my head spin!

My advice is go to the police or better still the Lefkosia tax office which is where it all happens , it can’t be done in Girne . & get it from the horses mouth .

I have done it & if you want to call me I’ll tell you the route I took but that might have changed , it was about 3 years ago .

Thank's Ruggy, that is good advice and the Police station will be my first point of call.
