Bank notes refused at Sah supermarket.

Just been to Sah for a few item, bill total 140tl. Handed over 2 * 100tl notes. Till operator refused one of the notes pointing out a very slight tear on top. Incidentally the same thing happened to a friend of ours at Numar supermarket in town, this occasion it was a 200tl note. I had also mentioned my friends predicament to the Moonstar chap who informed me that they were out of order doing so and that they should have accepted it. My friends course of action was to leave the shopping at the till and walk out, leaving them to put it all back. Our course of action was to do the same. Next stop was Supreme, same notes same amount of shopping.............No problem and slightly cheaper!

Extraordinary. I handed over 4 x 50tl notes in a supermarket last week and one was cellotaped from side to side. It was accepted.

I had a 100tl note refused by Supreme a few weeks ago because it I had put it throught the washing machine in my jeans pocket and it had crease marks. No other damage what so ever.

I had a 200tl note refused at Lemar Alsancak, left the shopping where it was and walked. Heading up town later went to Lemar Karaoglanohlu, did the shop, paid with same note no problem. 8mm tear in it!

I had a £20 note refused in Ercan duty free because it had a 2mm rip.
This is getting ridiculous, I think everyone should just walk when this happens, it may knock some sense into store owners out here.
I remember last year they were refusing notes with writing on them.

There are notices in most of the exchanges warning that FOREIGN notes will be refused, regardless, but its only recently that TL notes are being refused.

I don't understand how or why they are refusing to accept notes that would be accepted in the UK or anywhere else. Beats the hell out of me.

So what are the exchanges doing then? - By the above they must only be exchanging TL for TL, wonder what the rate is - lol.
