New Istanbul Airport

So what are transfers going to be like when travelling to/from Ercan?

But is the old airport now defunct? If not transfers may be easier.

the new airport is only running 5 routes at present (all turkish airlines) until new year, one of which is Ercan! although only one flight a day at present. it has ISL as airport code. There is no transfers as yet unless you routing between the 5 routes i think. Current rates to fly between TRNC and Istanbul new airport is super cheap with Turkish airlines. i know all of this as i use turkish airlines to get to and from work between TRNC and Africa, and i was planning/researching my next trip home in December.. looking forward to using ISL instead of Ataturk, but feel for all the hotels and businesses that rely on IST for there being.

also, the old airport (Ataturk) will become cargo, private aircraft and pilot training airport - and SAW (on Asian side) will stay as normal. they will migrate all aircraft and equipment en-masse at start of year including transferring some aircraft by road! would be quite interesting to witness that event im sure..

Hi Lezana. Do you know what the 5 routes are? A bit concerned as we are flying with TA to Miami early next year and the return already has quite a short transit time back to Ercan.

The destinations now operating from ISL airport are:

Ankara, Antalya and İzmir (Turkey)
Baku (Azerbaijan) and
Ercan (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus)
