The Polis Immigration officer will tell you when you have presented all of your documentation to satisfaction, whatever area you come under. Please use the search facility in the first instance to make enquiries.

Ok lets try again

The BRS web site giving cost is now out of date, as i have found out, prices have increase, so has anyone done residency during September 18 and what are the new cost of stamps etc

has anyone been for blood test during September 18 as i am lead to believe the procedure has now changed , I believe you no longer pay for your Blood test at the Hospital, but you have to go to a bank and pay cash over counter.

I started the process in mid August and it was same procedure as usual. Go to police station with your documents, they give you a slip to take to the hospital. Go to hospital, hand over slip and passport, go to next window and pay, receive passport, receipt and directions to laboratory where you give blood. Go to laboratory, show receipt, they take blood and do TB test, go back to police station with all documentation which they process. A few days later go back to lab and show them site of TB test. A week later go back to hospital and pickup sealed results. 2-3 weeks later go to immigration in Lefkosa (I went last week), you need 13.5TL in stamps, your sealed results and passport, pay 345TL for one year or double for 2 years. You can pay by credit card in the Vezne, you can buy the stamps from the café, possibly 5TL extra (we bought a coffee too).
If the procedure has changed since then the Police should tell you where to go, ask Mehmet in the office as his English is ok.

As of today 18th September 18

You leave police station to go to hospital to pay and collect paperwork to get blood test WRONG not anymore that was to easy
Hospital no longer takes money

NOW

Leave Police station to go to hospital wait in Que where you used to pay, who then give you a number, you then take this number to the coop bank near Lemar in Karacum wait in another Que, Pay 135 TL each for blood test. then take receipt back to hospital, same place where you used to pay,

You then continue as before Process now increased to 2.5 hours

Muhtar Letter now 3.5

Residency stamps now 18.5 TL

Just to clarify, the 'residency stamps' that I referred to are the ones that are affixed to your passport when the ink stamp is put in it by immigration at Lefkosa. This is not the same as the stamps required when you make a first time application (which are not required for renewals).

Thanks for the update in procedure, selfishly I'm glad that I don't have to think about it again for 2 years which will be the last time I have to bother with blood tests. Unless they change the procedure again...what are the chances.

Can’t believe they’ve added another useless step in the process.
I could never figure the whole visiting the hospital to be sent off somewhere else to do a blood test.
Seemed a really good location to do a blood test being that you were already there and it being a hospital and everything.
Maybe when pirating the process from another country’s procedure they popped a comma between blood and bank and so now a bank is now included in the process.

EJS - once upon a time you could just go along to any testing laboratory and request a blood test 'for immigration purposes'.

Then some of the Laboratories complained that they were not getting their 'fair share' of the business generated by Immigration, and so the Government decided that the hospital should specify the laboratory to be used, on a rotating basis, to ensure 'equal pickings for all'.

Just what has triggered the change in payment procedure, God alone knows - and He is not telling

Again according to Trevor's tips first time applications AND people under 60 (that I would think is almost everyone) have to go to Lefkosa to get a rubber stamp, another trip to Lefkosa, that's a pain in the A&*e

I've asked Trevor for clarification re the 1st time applications and under 60s as I wonder if it's just worded badly. It's hard to believe that they make all renewals for under 60s go through all those steps...but this is Cyprus

I am unsure how accurate the article is as it states that you go back to the clinic after three days to collect the results,Is this confused with the fact that you had to go back after three days to have the scratch test fo TB checked?
Are they going to write up your results there and then if the scratch test is OK?

Trevor has confirmed that his understanding is that all 1st applications and renewals for under 60s have to go through the process below. It'll be interesting to hear from any under 60s who are renewing if they really have to do step 1 and 3 and why!

1. Obtain an in’s and out’s record from the office in the main police station. Don’t forget to take a 18 T L postage stamp with you.

2. Hand over all the relevant documents to the police officer in the office next door.

3. If all the documents are in order, the officer will give you a form which you need to take to the Interior Ministry in Lefkosa. The staff member will complete the form and put an official rubber stamp on it. [this is the new addition]

4. Return to the police station from where you started the process and hand over the form which was stamped at the Ministry, and in return will give you a form for having your bloods taken and the name of the laboratory taking the blood samples.

5. Go to the Koop Bank in Girne and pay the fee.

6. Go to the laboratory for the blood tests and show them your receipt of payment. Then return three days later to collect the results. Do not open the envelope, because if you do you will have to be re-tested.

7. After approximately six weeks go to the Interior Ministry for your application to be completed, taking with you your passport. You must also take the fee for payment, or credit card.

How utterly rediculous. Thankfully my friends did their first application 2 weeks ago and didn't have to go through this farce. One can only hope that come next July when I do my 13th renewal things will have changed again for the better!

Why can’t I pay for my blood tests at the police station? I am never refused when paying for my speeding tickets!

If the police station staff are authorized and competent to “check” the paperwork, why can’t they rubber stamp the form?

How many applicants, will be traveling from their local police station to Nicosia? Why cant they add on a few TL and get a taxi driver to deliver them once per week?

Why do I need an “ins and outs”? What is this going to show? Also, do you not think Immigration at Nicosia can access the “ins and outs” database? Just add on another 18 TL and let them do it.

Why don’t I just have a blood test, take it to the police station with a few thousand TL and let them do me the favour of stamping my passport with “Visitor”?

Well if I have to have another trip to Nicosia, guess where I will be spending my Euros?

The BRS have negotiated a simplified procedure for the over 60's - see previous post.

Thanks. Which category, initial, renewal and either/both age categories or is everything out of date? Poor BRS website manager must be frustrated as hell with the many changes the TRNC Government introduce, often with no prior notification or a thought through process.

Quote "Trevor has confirmed that his understanding is"......

Would be interested to know where the information given actually came from initially (official department?)

I seem to remember Trevor stating a new number plate procedure and it turned out to be incorrect.

First half of residency renewal completed today (both under 60) and this is what happened:

Went to police station, was given slip to hand in to Koop Bank, Karakum.
Handed in slip at Koop Bank along with 135tl per person, and left with receipts for payment.
Took receipts to Girne Hospital (where we used to pay), and was issued with map for the clinic.
Attended clinic, usual bloods and TB tests done, and told to return on Wednesday.
Went back to police station, handed over all relevant paperwork (more of which below) and a 30tl stamp each.
Told to go to Immigration Office, Lefkosa, in two weeks time.

That was it!

Paperwork taken to police station was as follows:

Copy of bank statements
Copy of kocan
Copy of marriage certificate
Copy of photo page of passport
Copy of residency page of passport
Pink card
Actual passport
30tl stamp per applicant

Job done. Hope this helps.

That's a relief, I did think it was a backward step for renewals. I did mine in August and paid at the hospital, obviously just before they changed that part of process. Be interested to know what the 30TL stamps were for - we only produce stamps at the immigration office when our passports were stamped and they cost 13.5TL each.
