Sorry the poster is so small, but if anyone wants a copy, just p.m. me, and PLEASE pass on the message toany friends, particularly turkish,Greek or Cypriot as tthey are the most likely to be a match. Bengu'ssister is only a 50% match, and Bengu needsa 90% one. t is quite simple- no bone marrow, no life! She will die.It is a simple test todiscover if you are suitable but sadly no one over 49 in u.K andno one over 45 in Cyprus, plus in yprus one must be citizen.

But surely somone, somwhere out there is a match. It is a question of finding it.

please help. pass on the messaage . help save a life.

Clearly hoping that Turks and/or Cypriots come forward to help Bengu and not wishing to take the thread off-topic, but yesterday (Thursday) evening the following report came out at 8.42pm telling of an "urgent" request from the state hospital in Lefkoşa for A- blood. Call 0533 848 04 04 if you're willing to donate.

O negative blood could also be used.

Ian, you are right. But how about making a separate thread of the request for blood, because people might not otherwise see it.

Incidentally, there is urgent need for bone marrow don ors here. The Kemal Saracolglu Foundation desperately need people to go on the register. it is an uphill climb here to get eligible people. the age limit of 45 upper means a very limited field of possibles.

also of course, it is very important that people give blood to the blood bank, but it is not the cultural way here, as blood is normally given only when required with family or friends. If only they would give to the blood bank then people could be hleped when the emergency arises without having to put out appeals to save a life.

so please make a separate thread of the blood appeal.

Hi Marion,
Considering it was an "urgent" request, I presume the blood was for, at the latest, an early-afternoon operation. So, it's now probably too late to ask for blood. But in future I will certainly start a separate thread.
Regards,
Ian

You could wellbe correct, Ian - in fact you most probably are correct. Actually i was talking today to some Lapta Belediye workers and was trying to say how important it is to get the culture changed here a little and topersuade more locals to be prepared to give to the blood bank instead of waiting for a family (or friendship)emergency. If only there was more in the blood bank, then lives could be saved immediately.

But, slowly, slowly.

Still waiting to hear if Bengu has had any luck. I don't know how long it takes for these things, but at least the message is being spread.
