Pet relief area at new Istanbul airport?
Is there a designated area (toilet needs) for pets that are traveling w owners? I have A4 hour layover and then an11 hour overseas flight... she’ll need to relieve herself I am sure.

Contact KAR Pet Transportation Department (ask for Kim Betts) But isn't this information available on the airport web site?

Yes Ferguson... it's required all pets are contained in their carriers at all times in the plane. I was inquiring as to airport terminal relief areas for pets... I can't expect her to "hold it" for 19 hours! She won't soil her carrier for anything.

What is "She" ?
Dog, Cat, Pet Rat ?
Surely once you've booked the animal in you will not see it again until destination.

We have just taken our cat and dog on two flights going via Istanbul and was worried about this too, though they were certainly shorter flights. If your pet is in cargo, you wont see him or her until your final destination, so have no idea what happens in between If it is travelling in the cabin you will be able to take it outside for a bit of a walk.

Our 3 cats and 3 dogs were in their cages for about 16 hours at Istanbul before flying on to heathrow, they were under cover and in a quiet part of the airport, well that's what we were told. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THEIR MICROCHIPS, our cats weren't checked and one of them wasn't working so 4 months quarantine no ifs no buts no appeal

If you haven't already done so, I really would suggest you contact KAR Pet Transportation Department. What ever you do, please don't just do your own thing, because in the end it will be your pet that suffers. There are no ifs and buts where transporting animals is concerned (legally) Good luck.

My pet is a small dog (Chihuahua) and will be with me in the cabin. I brought her to TRNC cyprus 2 years ago from the USA, so yes, we are familiar with the requirements, I ask about the "pet area" at the new airport as I was hoping they'd made some provisions for this... as it IS an international airport and NEW. thanks all for the information. When are you travelling? Very few flights are using ISL at the moment.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....
