If religion comes into it then everywhere that sells Full English Breakfasts to the locals will have to shut up shop! Pork is a bit like prohibition in the USA, it is banned/frowned upon/never eaten but is cheerfully scoffed everywhere. I suppose you could still sell it in bars because as we all know the TC's don't drink at all - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

He has no cooked beef because he needs a separate license to cook the meat!! What about restaurants?

Just another reason for us to sell up and go back to blighty from this country because of the pathetic and childish way they do business and react to competition. This butcher is better than the award winning butcher we used to buy our sausages from in a small town there. In fact all Yusuf's products are way beyond any standard that butchers in this country could even comprehend. Then there's the service. He's a gentleman with customer service written all over his face. They say the confiscated meat was destroyed. Should we be looking in the freezers of these officials who destroyed it? For the perpetrators of this grassing up, we will support Yusuf and rest assured if he doesn't get that cooking and pork licences, we will still buy there.

I've seen these people in action one Sunday night about 8:30 pm

We were having a quiet meal only six other people in the place
In walk five men in black T shirts and trousers
They looked like a group of heavies collecting protection money for the mob (Godfather style)

Quite unbelievable with the arrogance attitude and presence that would damage any business

A few months later I was in Famagusta and a similar group was entering a restaurant as I was driving along

I presume this is what they were doing with the stuff they took from the restaurant

Been in this morning for some fabulous lamb for a stew, good to see the place very busy, and Yusuf his usual smiling self...... all publicity is good publicity or so the saying goes, keep smiling Yusuf, giving excellent customer service, and excellent quality meat, albeit a little limited at the moment, but no shortage of excellent cuts of beef and lamb.
