Soundproof curtains
Hello,
Has anybody here in TRNC tried soundproof curtains for his house (bedroom) ? If yes - did they help with isolating the sound and making the room quiet? Do you know any local vendors in Girne area who provide such a product (a good quality one). Cheers.

Re: Soundproof curtains
Jewellers in Girne sell wedding rings seemed to work for me or just unlock the door and let her out.

Hehe. Thanks for the tip. However, my issue is with sound coming from outside the property (mostly malfunctioning water pumps of neighbors working ever few seconds 24/7)

What about shutters, I'm sure they'd work better than curtains

Sorry, I don't know of soundproof curtains, what I would try, in the first instance and the cheapest option, is, ear plugs.

In all my years of interior design I never came across those. Blackout lining makes the curtains a lot heavier and the room darker but sound well maybe. I think your neighbors should sort their pumps as its costing them money.Or a sneaky trip round and turn them off!

When we went to visit the Mavi Kosk one of the rooms had sound proof curtains. They were amazing. No one there could tell us where they came from though. I would love to have some too !

Re: Soundproof curtains
I didn't realise that this was the same as blackout curtains. Not noticed any muffling of sounds, but I think here that the main problem is no insulation in the brickwork, so as a soundproofing device, the curtains will be useless. They are great for keeping out a lot of heat in the summer, so the house is cooler, so thoroughly recommend for that aspect.

Re: Soundproof curtains
Never heard of soundproof curtains. Unfortunately, we have a similar problem in that we hear neighbours dogs barking all night and use a fan to block out the noise during the winter and summer all year round !! Very frustrating, but it works ! We did buy a white noise machine from UK but I found it annoying. Before anyone asks, yes we did speak to the neighbours but falls on deaf ears !
