Our last washing machine was 13 ears old and boy does it get some work. Something failed and was repairable but we opted for a new one. A lot of stuff these days is built to be changed in a short time Ikea stuff is particularly bad for this. I think the whole disposable society we have is designed around replacing things every few years.

My Hotpoint Whirlpool will be 15 years old next year. Rusty as anything at the bottom but my husband refuses to get a new one until it dies! Our Hotpoint Whirlpool fridge/freezer was 13 years old when it gave up.

Our Beko fridge/freezer still going strong, as are our Beko air conditioners all after 13 years. Have had to replace everything else though.

Recently had to replace 14 years old (but probably build 4 or 5 years before that) Bosch Washing Machine. Perfect results but bearings went and rubber surround going black and I can guarantee they could hear it on fast spin over in Turkey. Our new one so quiet I have to check that its actually working. Glad I changed it, but I did pat the old one on its head as it left the house.
