Of the mail sent to UK in mid November (20+ envelopes) 6 of which contained not unsubstantial cheques, only 1 has arrived in UK. All posted in Alsancak. I thought the useless postage system was with UK to TRNC, not vice versa. Anyone else had problems and in particular where was it posted. There has been a change of all personel in Alsancak after the same guys have worked there, without problems, for about 4 years or more. I'm not a happy person today. because of what has happened.

We took eight Xmas cards to the Karaoglanoglu post office on December 4th to go to the UK, none have arrived yet. We're hoping that the guy didn't pocket the money and bin the cards. In the past post has got there in about 12 days.

I should have said posted in Karaoglanoglu PO. Not Alsancak, must have had dyslectic fingers when typing. As remarked, have always had nothing but praise in the past, but something has gone wrong I fear. Also, they charged 50kr more per envelope than Girne did, for identical weight and size.

At the end of June, I posted a birthday card from the main post office in Girne. The counter clerk asked me if I preferred surface or air mail, I opted for air mail which cost TL12, it arrived at the end of October. You can draw your own conclusions.

SURFACE MAIL TO UK!!!! I didn't know that. I assumed (and always have assumed) that all mail to UK from TRNC went via Air

Maybe the postmen/women, sorters, carriers etc cannot spell either so the mail is incorrectly addressed/delivered - hence the non-arrival. (Seriously)?

Yaaay. Two envelopes have arrived, one in Cambridge and one in Portsmouth. Only about 20 to go now.
