Anyind know details of celebration in Girne square for new year ?

In the Cyprus Today last week there was an article that said all Girne celebrations have been cancelled for this year after the recent storms and loss of life.

I am not certain but I think Girne municipality cancelled their New Year celebrations out of respect for the four young people who lost their lives in the flood disaster. It was in the Cyprus Today newspaper last week. Haven’t seen this weeks paper yet so maybe there is more information about it this week

The article in Cyprus Today said among other things "Girne and Lapta municipalities said "No New Year activities were panned because of the tragedy ............" " But that was the Dec 22nd issue and things may have changed since then!

For animal lovers this does not mean private fireworks will not take place , so if you live near a hotel etc. if poss keep your pets indoors or at least make sure they have shelter where they can hide from the frightening noises and dropping rockets.
