I use NORD VPN to download BBC IPlayer programmes. Have noticed that there are no subtitles on my latest downloads. Anyone else experiencing this?

H PapaBravo, yes, I have had this problem for about 6 weeks now. I use MPN VPN but dont think it is anything to do with that, nor the internet provider. I got in touch with BBC through the I player website and they have been looking into it, but have not, as yet come up with an answer. It would probably be useful if you contact them too, the more who do the better. I find that I try to download, once the download starts, I open the download and can see if there are subtitles if there are not, I remove it and try again. Sometimes after maybe the 4th attempt, I see the subtitles working so allow that to finish downloading. I have tried everything, reloading I player, restarting pc, downloading SD, downloadiing HD, nothing gets rid of the problem, just have to keep trying and checking the download as soon as it starts to see if they are there, to avoid downloading the whole program unnecessarily. A real nuisance. I have now given up, and stream instead, which is working really well, occasional buffering, but not often. Good luck.

Thank you Mrs Gee. What stream service do you use and do they have 'Catchup'?

I don't know if I used the correct term, but I just press the play symbol on the BBC program I want to watch on I player and it starts to play, with the subtitles icon, which I click on. Works the same with ITV. I think most of the programs are available for a month, some more than that, especially box sets. I have been working my way through the Silent witness box set.
