Medical & health care insurance

Is there such a thing in TRNC? We are looking to spend more time in the Country and due to various ailments we would consider taking out a policy for peace of mind.

I hope to hear from someone with first hand experience of the above and would appreciate recommendations.

We took out the emergency medical cover not all that long ago, which was fortuitous as I had to go into hospital with pneumonia and my husband with DVT. Because DVT was an existing condition, this wasn't covered, but my pneumonia was, so my hospital payments were covered, but my husband's weren't. It was useful, in that you informed the hospital they contacted the insurance company and were told whether you were or were not covered. You were then aware cost wise. I am glad we took it out even though it is technically for emergency cover only. The company we are with is Zirve sigorta; I know Azant promote this company and so do Eset.
We were both in the Dr. Suat Gunsel Hospital in Karakum, and I do know they have a health insurance desk in the foyer, although I haven't gone into the cover they do

We have been with Güneş Sigorta for sixteen or seventeen years. Had a few claims both here and in Turkey and no problems at all. Very big claim made three years ago and all that was lost was NCD of about 200TL. However they will not take on anyone over the age of I think 60. After we had been with them for 10 years they said they will continue cover for the rest of our lives with no huge hike in premiums and so far they have been as good as their word.

Sally. Obviously ours is an old policy so I've no idea how much a new one might be. Ours costs just under ten thousand lira a year which covers us both. Pretty much everything is covered but as there are several agents for Güneş here I would advise getting in touch with them and seeing what is available. The main office here is in Lefkoşa, their number is 0392 444 1957 and they are very helpful.
