I would like to say well done to us all who sensibly focus on cutting down on the use of plastic bags...
We are all contributing positively in helping the environment..

Looks as if a lot of the charging for Pl. bags is dying a death. Lately I've been into many shops/supermarkets where they are handing out free, gratis and for nothing. I did ask why and was told it was just too much trouble, especially when people stood and argued or in some cases left they goods behind. Shops being accused (?) of pocketing the money or being used as Tax Collectors. All in all it seems to be fizzling out. Even those shops handing out Long Life Bags for free i.e. China Bazaar, most locals don't bother to use them for anything else. Hopeless!!!

Government should send out secret shoppers and any shop giving away bags for free should receive a massive fine which is reinvested into the local environment.

Simples.

Think it would be as simple as having the police service ensure that more than half the cars on the road are taxed and insured?
Guess it depends what you feel is a priority.

This has got no relevance whatsoever to my post.

Of course it does. It is a matter of resources and how you prioritise using them.

I have no interest in how the government reduces the number of drivers with / without car tax.

My concern is with how the human race is destroying the planet at an alarming rate and the fact that the seas / countryside is covered in rubbish.

If the government even threatened the introduction of secret shoppers / large fines, it would act as a deterrent. Also, if they were to do it on a commission basis, it wouldn’t cost them any money anyway.

Don't think an easy catch to potentially reduce the cars on the road might help the planet?
Maybe get some revenue in for projects such as clearing rubbish etc?
Perhaps get some much needed discipline on the roads and save lives?

It will be lovely to help save a lesser spotted yellow fin fish it time but I'm thinking that maybe we could save a child crossing a road, stuff like that.
Depends what is first to do on your wish list. I was pleased they bought out of fox hunting ban but would have been more pleased had they had a go at tackling knife crime first.
