I've taken out yearly global travel cover with a UK insurance company (AXA) and notice in the small print............
We will not pay for claims arising directly or indirectly from:
8. Your travel to a country or specific area or event to which the Travel Advice Unit
of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office or the World Health Organisation has
advised the public not to travel or are officially under embargo by the
United Nations.
This is potentially troublesome especially for holidaymakers less familiar with the political situation and I wondered if anyone has come across problems in this area?

I take out insurance with Staysure as I have spoken with them and have an email confirmation that they cover Cyprus (as a whole). You can even start your journey here...that said. I would contact them directly yourself and confirm as things do change.

Re: Travel Insurance for the TRNC
Just tried to arrange expat travel insurance with staysure and got this message :
"We’re making a few changes with our underwriter in order to keep serving expats living in other countries after the UK exits Europe.
Because of this, we’re currently unable to sell any new expat travel insurance policies while we make these important changes.
We expect that we’ll be up and running again in the next few months. "
Any suggestions for alternatives, travelling from TRNC to Turkey and Europe?
