Cataract operation

Apparently when cataract is removed there are 2 different lenses that can be used .
Has anyone any experience with either of these

I was charged (8,000TL) for a lens replacement (16,000TL for both eyes) carried out by Dr Hussein at the Kamalolu (spelling?). I understand that this is significantly higher than for a cataract op where a new lens is also fitted. So I can only assume that a different quality lens is used for cataract ops as this is the only logical difference for the price difference, assuming that the replacement procedure is the same. I guess that the only way to establish the facts for certain is to pop down and ask Dr Hussein, who is a very nice man. If you do follow this up, please post your findings on this thread as I am sure there are many who would be interested.

You probably had the lens which is similar to a varifocal one that you would have in your eye glasses. That is more expensive. I have just paid 4000tl for one eye with Dr Huseyin but I had the basic lens.

Depending on your problem the prices can vary. Because of the shape of my eyes (they looks perfectly normal to me!!) I have to have lenses specially made as they are double thickness. In fact one lens a couple of years back had to have two stiches in and left there for 6 days. It was decided that I have a general as well.

I had the new varifocl lenses , Symfony I think they were called , in both eyes by Dr. Hussein two years ago . The improvement in my sight was brilliant but unless you have had both new and old style lenses you can not know the difference . By the way this doctor is great and really cares .

He is fantastic i have glaucoma which has caused lots of problems but he is at the end of the phone anytime if I am worried.
