I am trying to send a pm to one member with a copy to another, I could find no indication of copy, so I clicked on "Add" and typed in the name of the one I wanted to send a copy to .. It was refused saying "too many copies" Is there a facility for sending copies and or pms to more than one person? If so could someone explain how it works, please.

To the best of my knowledge no there is not such a facility for forum users. You would need to send it separately to each of the two people or ask each for their email addresses and then send it that way to both. This is by design because unfortunately having such a feature allows people to think it would be a good idea to send some spam PM to everyone on the forum. I am not 100% sure about this but am 90% +

Erol is correct.

The pm facility allows you to send a pm to one person only ( A private message to them). As Erol has mentioned this stops a member creating a spam private message and then listing all the names on the forum and sending it out.

There is the email option providing the member has added their email details to their profile.

So if you are looking to send a pm to a member and wish to copy the content to another member then it does need to be sent separately to each member. You can send the original out and then copy and paste the message content and resend on another pm to another member......if the second member is being sent to pm for information only then you could make this clear before sending.

Hope that makes some sense.

What a shame!!!!! However thank you both for your replies , saved me wasting even more time! Perhaps an explanation under instructions would be a good idea

Now I am curious as to what is the function of the "Add" button

Ragged Robin, it’s to add the person you are going to pm. So if you wanted to contact me by pm, you will put in Dalartokat and press add. Type out your message and submit.

To send another pm you then repeat the process by putting another name and press add.

Practice to me if you want.

Thanks D. for your explanation and I will send a pm shortly. Although the logic of the whole system still completely escapes me!
