Been thinking about adding shutters to our patio doors and windows. Has anyone had shutters added to their property - have the shutters lived up to expectation - where did you buy them from, and approximately how much did they cost?

They are been great for the bedrooms in terms of darkness and keeping out the heat.
Also very good for windows facing west where you get the hot afternoon and evening sun.
Got ours from Dogpen many years ago, excellent service and quality.

Replaced all of our aluminium shutters on all windows three years ago for electric roller shutters, kept the house much warmer in winter and much cooler in the summer, best thing we have done in 12 years of living here. They were not cheap but worth every penny spent on them. We got ours from Tescomar in Catalkoy. Our house has no double glazed windows by the way and now can not see a need for them. The shutters can be fully closed or left with air gaps open between each slat.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Ours came with the new build house so sorry have no idea of cost, and are 14 years old. However, they have more than lived up to expectations. One added benefit, although we have double glazing throughout and double locking system on all sliding doors, the shutters give an extra security benefit and would certainly slow any potential burglar down. One insurance person said he would reduce peoples policy payments if he could, to those that had them. But the company wouldn't hear of it.
