Shock - Beer prices in England
We received this picture from our son, holidaying in the Lake District and were totally gobsmacked at the prices of the beers. I know they are all micro brewery products, but still - translated into Lira 30 - 37 TL a pint. That makes it over 50TL for a litre, if my maths are correct!!

Your son is holidaying in one of the expensive places in UK. Micro breweries popping up every where. If I were holidaying in the Lake District I would expect to pay high prices, together with other popular destinations in UK. Why compare prices UK to North Cyprus. There is no comparison. It’s how it is here.

Dont have to be inLake District,my old local in Northants it’s £4 for a pint of Carlsberg. The pub has the monopoly so locals have to pay or stay home.Dalartokat wrote:Your son is holidaying in one of the expensive places in UK. Micro breweries popping up every where. Never a serious drinker (in my heyday, at most once or twice a month), I remember a couple of bob (2/-) or thereabouts for a pint....
...An occasional dalliance with the odd snakebite in the 70's (cost forgotten)...
...and nowadays (in my declining years) only alternating between uisge beatha and scrumpy (NOT mixed!)...
£4 or more for "mere" beer? IMO, definitely not value for money....
(I'll remain a secret drinker at home...)

We went to the Olympic Stadium, new home of West Ham, for a rugby match at the end of March. £6 a pint!!! I kid you not, for Amstel lager, we couldn’t find anything else on draught. Even our local, and we live in South Bucks, charge less than £4 a pint for lager. So if those prices are for a pint, very good value
