Over-wintering a pool

We are swallows who currently only visit our property for short breaks in March, May, August and November, but are paying for pool management for the whole year. We would prefer to shut the pool down for most of the year, and just have it available for the warmer visits. We know there can be risks associated with this, but it can be done if managed correctly. Does anyone have experience of doing this and can recommend a pool management company?
