Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
If you go through the Famagusta crossing once on the greek side keep going on the same road. eventually you will come to a motorway bridge just before Dekhalia barracks. Turn left after the bridge and follow the road round the barracks. you will come to a roundabout turn right alongside the barracks. take the next left and at the junction turn right. you will then enter the car park and the chippie is right in front of you. Enjoy.
As I got older I congratulated myself on my tolerance..... Now I realise I just don't give a "ooops"

The site is at Dhekelia and is accurately described as in msg 2 above. It is virtually opposite the entrance to the military barracks.

It's closer to the Beyarmadum/Pyla crossing than to the Famagusta crossing depending on where you are starting off from. If you want directions from that crossing I can post them.

Went to Crispy Squid once, never again, cats everywhere!!!! We like Lokmans in Alsancak. They do small, medium and large helpings, but you must ask for hot plates if you want them! Cypriot restaurants do not seem to understand hot plates and hot food!

Yes please if you don't mind. Thanks. Starting from Esentepe.come_on_aylin wrote:It's closer to the Beyarmadum/Pyla crossing than to the Famagusta crossing depending on where you are starting off from. If you want directions from that crossing I can post them.

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
From Esentepe village, go to coast road and turn right (East) towards Tempo, continue past Bahçeli and Küçük Erenköy, at T-junction turn right, follow this road until you come to the dual carriageway to Gazımağusa/Lefkoşa (pass a couple of kpet petrol stations and go straight ahead at all the roundabouts). Cross the dual carriageway towards Dörtyol, make sure you give way to both directions of traffic, continue to next junction and turn left. Follow this road, going straight at the roundabout, then through Beyarmudu to the crossing. Once through the crossing point take the second road on the left, it's about 1km from the crossing and before Pyla village. Follow this road for 3 km turning left at the T junction and then immediately right, follow this road for about 3km, go straight at the roundabout, after 200m turn left, after another 200m turn right and Cessac beach is just ahead. Lembos fish and chip restaurant is beside the supermarket and there is parking is next to the supermarket. Here's a link to a Google map, hope it works https://maps.app.goo.gl/NmCRh2GeQ1tvJJT6A

Very good directions, but it is the second left after the crossing. You will then pass the airfield.come_on_aylin wrote:Once through the crossing point take the first road on the left, .

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
Thanks, I wasn't sure so checked Google maps and it doesn't show the first road that's why I said about 1km after crossing but I had a feeling there was another road. I'll edit my post and include a link to a map.

https://www.facebook.com/lambrosfishchips/ OR You can just drop "Lembos fish and chips" into Google Search and then hit the "Directions" button to get yourself the map. Been going there every year for years and years now, never had bad food - more things on the menu than just fish and chips - staff are friendly, parking is not bad if you park in the beach car park instead of the CESSAC car park and prices/payment is all in Euros. Go soon before Brexit or you may miss the chance. It is - apart from the odd McDonalds sausage and egg mcmuffin - one of the only things I will miss when we can't go any more. Enjoy!
TB10pilot, Crispy Squid moved some time ago, have you been since as there are no cats in the new place?

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
Just out of interest - Once you have driven across the end of the airfield and reached the T junction where you turn left then immediate right, if you do not turn right but carry on and turn right onto the Motorway towards Ayia Napa, the very first exit off the motorway you come to will take you to a Lidl within 500 mtrs of leaving the motorway. If you do shopping there first then hop back onto the motorway and come back towards Dhekelia the first exit off the motorway takes you back to the Dhekelia camp again. Handy for a quick shop if you are out for fish and chips - lol.

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
Must agree with other posters Mr Salty & Crispy Squid both excellent Used both & never seen a cat in either
If I had it wouldn't have bothered me
Both better than any fish /chips I've had in the UK and I've eaten in fishing towns at opposite ends of the country. Brixham Devon & Fraserburgh Scotland
I've not eaten fish & chips in Derynia but my other half has many times whilst playing golf at the army camp. He assures me that they are very good but certainly no better than our own Crispy Squid & Mr Salty in the North.

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
One other consideration which forum members might not be aware of.
On Friday there is a wet fish man who sells delicious piscatorial delights from a van in the CESSAC car park. He’s usually there until early afternoon but I’m afraid I don’t know his actual “opening hours”.

Re: Fish & Chips Deryneia.
Just a thought. Why are posters using the geographical location for CESSAC/Lambos as being in Deryenia when it is located in Dhekelia, some distance apart? Is this another example of Brit expats giving their own interpretation of actual places here, no crossing at Pyla but one at Beyermadu/Pergamos, some three three kms west from the actual crossing point or just a genuine error?

I don't think many have since you corrected the simple error in post 3.tomsteel wrote:Just a thought. tomsteel If you are referring to my posting
I've no clue where any of these places are or what they are called, simply went with the heading of the first post.
Never go South for any reason ,not shopping or flights. Quite happy with what's on offer in the North
However my other half goes over fairly frequently for the golf courses & plays at an army camp, in Dhekelia They have the fish/chips delivered in from this particular f/chip shop that the poster was enquiring about wherever it may be situated & whatever it's postal address so he has eaten the said f/chips on several occasions .and assures me they are no better than what we have on offer here in the North
So sorry if my geographical reference of the location doesn't meet with your expectations.

I regret you have taken my post personally, as it was never my intention to either upset or correct you and if I have, please accept my apology. My rationale for posting accurate information or correcting inaccurate posts, if I am able to, is to ensure that those viewing have factual details should they need it. Personal tastes on food are just that, wherever it is eaten and whatever genre. My wife and I have eaten fish and chips in all three eateries mentioned in previous posts and enjoyed them all, as we did in another restaurant west of Girne (sorry, cannot remember its name).
