Every time I take a bath or shower my skin itches madly afterwards. A form of eczema or sensitivity to the water here I suppose. Antihistamines work eventually but I was wondering if a filtration system or water softener might help.
Has anyone suffered with this?
Can anyone recommend a water softener or filtration unit? PLEASE!!

Hi Panochat
I cannot recommend a water softener system. However I too suffer from eczema/ sensitive skin, I use products for sensitive skin, that have no perfumes in. (Normally Simple products which I bring out from the UK) I make sure I've rinsed thoroughly in the shower, and when just dry use a moisturiser called Excipial Hydro Emulsiyon, recommended by a dermatologist I had to see once. You can buy it at any chemist, it's a lightweight moisturiser cost around 10 TL.
Hope this helps, there's nothing worse than itchy skin.

Re: Water softener/sensitive skin
Thanks Lovelife, I follow the same routine with non-scented products. It just seems to have got a lot worse lately. I think I may have to start taking the piraton an hour before a shower as last night I had to sit up till about 1am for the piraton to work. Itchy burning was awful.
Just wondered if a water softener would help at all.

Hi Panchocat
There are reverse osmosis systems and water purification systems available. I have the reverse osmosis system, which I love, and have a friend that has both. Contact Marco - 0548-851-1930 for more information.

Re: Water softener/sensitive skin
I would take a sample of your water to a laboratory and get them to check pH and anything else that may be in it. I would be surprised if hard/soft water is the issue. If piriton is working it sounds more like there is an allergen in the water. Perhaps discuss with a doctor and get an allergy screen. I have always found with softened water that is is difficult to get soap residue off so if that is where your allergy lies it may make it worse.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

Thank you Jonnie and Awali. I will look into both of those bits of advice. Much appreciated.
