Inverter air con units - opinions

Good morning,
I am thinking of getting an inverter air con unit and wondered whether there is any feed back in relation of reliabilty.
I read an article about the circuit boards can short out due to gheko's or other small creatures getting inside the unit.
The report said that the repair is expensive and for a failure of this sort the gaurantee is invalid.
Any feed back would be very welcome also make for quaity of operation and quietness, supplier and cost for a 24,000btu
thank you.

We have replaced all our old air con units for modern inverters. They are rated A+++ so very efficient. We tested with a smart meter how much electricity was being used by an old unit and then tested one of the new units and the electricity usage halved. We would definitely say an inverter unit will save you money. WE purchased our units from Sabatini at Mr Pipe and were very pleased with the service. A worthwhile investment for the future as I doubt electric prices will drop in the future even if its bought over from Turkey. I hope this helps.

Steve,

Sounds like an isolated incident, people have been having them fitted to quite a few years now and this is the first I've heard of such an event.... in any case you'd need to know the make and model number of the unit as with all electrical items - they vary.

It could also be suppliers desperate to sell old and no longer desirable stock planting rumours in an effort to blacken the image of inverter units which are definitely a step in the right direction....

We had two of the latest Bosch units fitted early this year , a 24,000 in the lounge and a 12,000 in a bedroom . Nice and neat looking with a glass mirrored front . Very quiet and efficient . Got them from the Bosch shop almost opposite TEB bank in Girne . Ordered them on a Tuesday fitted on Thursday nice neat job and the holes outside made good . Would recommend .
