Receipts required for both Gas bottles and Carboys

There is a small notice by the check out in Starlings (one opposite fish shop in Alsancak) which says from 14th April (I think it was) saying they will not longer exchange the above without a receipt for the original. Whether that means a Starlings receipt or receipt from another store, it didn't make clear.

How does that work when exchanging empty cooking/heating gaz bottles for full ones? We have five gaz cylinders and I have no idea where the receipts would be, even if we kept them after ten years here. I guess we'll now have to buy new full bottles, keep the receipts and ditch our old bottles! Stunning! Is this a government or commercial decision to make even more money? I bet the local TCs will not jump through this hoop without a furore.

The same with gas as water. They give you a number on a piece of paper when you ask in the shop for a new water or gas bottle. It's not rocket science! You give the number to the guy in the gas water shed. Obviously people have been dishonest along the way if the new system is needed.l9

Ahhh, that's not the same as it indicates to me Panochocat. You are saying it's a just a receipt when you hand empty water or gas containers back and they give you a number in order to go and get another one at the back of the shop. Maybe its something lost in translation as the notice gave me to understand they were talking about your original receipt when you bought them at the checkout, which as tomsteel says, could be months earlier. Hopefully you are correct Panchocat.

Supreme have been giving out a card for ages for exchange gas bottles you give it to the guy when you get your bottle

Supreme give you a Blue card & the Guys exchange that for a full water bottle. Similar for Gas but the card is Green

BTW the so-called 'carboys' are actually called bidon (bee-don) in Turkish... if you ask for a carboy you might get more than you bargained for!

Exchanged mine in Dolmaci yesterday - just the same system as before, as Sophie says this is probably a translation issue and they give you a receipt/card at the till with how many you need/have paid for to give to the depot bloke, at Dolmaci the till girls just shout to the boys how many are required.

IPMAN, don't you just love it!!! BTW, is that the Dolmaci in Alsancak. The first Supermarket I used to go when we moved here then all the others gradually started up and we sort of left it behind. Is it still OK?
