Electric shower
I’m looking to replace my shower unit.
At present I use shower units that operate via solar in the summer and electric immersion heater through the winter.
I want to replace each with automatic electric shower in conjunction with solar..operated independently operating via each unit..in each bathroom and en-suites all in all operating independently.. cutting out needing the use of immersion heater for all.
Can any one recommend any independent individual system I want to install.?
The make of shower unit they use and approx cost.?
General over view of the system.?
Cheers

Re: Electric shower
an important consideration will be, are there suitable sized wires handy at the point where the showers is to be fitted. getting a supply from the consumer unit to the shower could be a problem. an instantaneous calor gas water heater may be an easier and cheaper option.

Re: Electric shower
We’ve just had a calor gas boiler fitted by Yenal of Northview Maintenance, which gives constant hot water to all sinks and showers in the winter, but allows us to bypass it during the summer and use the roof system. Sounds as though this would do what you need?

Re: Electric shower
Thanks thornaby
Excellent advice to which I will look into.
Steveodp.
Thanks..
I’m presuming pipes need to be installed all around the villa to connect to shower/ sink outlast..
Unfortunately water outlets are not all on outside wall.
Can you give me approx cost...?
How many shower units did it serve ?
Where do you position the calor gas supply..? Is it a tank or bottle gas ?
approx Running costs ?
Very much appreciated

Re: Electric shower
How do you by pass it in summer. I had a gas heater but someone had to go up on the roof to shut it off in summer.

Re: Electric shower
the heater just plumbs into the existing pipework of the hot supply from the roof top panels, no need to put additional pipes around the house and there should be no need to to go on the roof to put the heater on or off line. the heater located at low level will have a simple by pass system to switch the heater off line during summertime use.

Re: Electric shower
It's exactly as thornaby describes. Boiler is outside, as are the two pipes that go up to the roof system. At the bottom below the boiler are three valves to direct flow. Connects to standard gas bottle. Yenal said his family use approximately one bottle per month in winter for all hot water. Re installation costs, probably best to ask for a quote as all will differ slightly.

Re: Electric shower
Deniz1, if I remember, you are I plus loads of others fell into the same selling trap and used the same company. Absolutely useless. It seemed the gas system was OK if you lived in a bungalow but not a house, dreadful and the fitter was a total incompetent. Our boiler is stil in its housing on the side of an outside wall. One day I'll get round to offering it for sale.

Re: Electric shower
it is a bit puzzling to me how anybody can expect to get a working and maybe on top reliable "DHW gas heating" system, incl the heater, materials, work and VAT (?), for 800 TL, by this time approx 300 euros.

Re: Electric shower
The fact remains kibsolar1999, those of us who are not Corgi trained fitters and who listened to those (most of whom lived in bungalow, but not all) who praised the system to the highest, believed what we were told. We fell for a very good con and yes we were probably naive in retrospect. I still have my boiler, which did in fact work, but because the pipe work had to be draped all over the roofs for water to reach the respective basins etc., it took at least ten minutes with h/W tap on full to get even tepid water. It was useless. We called the company back three times. In the end the installer left and switched his phone off particularly when he realised that the system was just not fit for purpose.

Re: Electric shower
Might be worth asking Northview (or someone else) to take a look at what you have, and to let you know what is needed to get it functioning correctly?
