Went for lunch today and told rather nonchantly , we do not do lunch now and walked away. Anyone know if it is closing down for winter ?

Must have just changed,they gave us lunch 2 weeks ago. That said it was friday and the place had more staff than customers.

Would have thought they could make a killing with the New Coastal Walkway starting there, an ideal place to grab food and drink after the walk?

We went to find the start of the coastal path yesterday, we went down the road sign posted Sardunya Beach bay, the road was full of potholes and water it was so bad we turned round without finding the coastal path, did we go down the wrong road? we didn't see a hotel unless we didn't go far enough we wouldn't chance it because the road was so bad. Can someone please put me right as we would like to walk the coastal path.

Carry on down the road past the villas, open fields to your left, you should see hotel on the left in the distance, you will come to afork in theroad, take the left fork. You can park at Sardinia or just before. The costal walk is worth avoiding the potholes as you go along.

Went to Sardunya about 4 weeks ago.....meal was not good, neither was the service.....problem over here seems to be that they open a restaurant which is good for a couple of months or so......and then - bang - no longer good....maybe they only want to cater for tourists and so at the back end of the season it's rubbish... Shame, cos a lot of people living here all year round are eager to spend their money in a half decent restaurant.....no wonder so many end up closing down....no business acumen unfortunately.

With every due respect to anyone who tries to open, or run a business here, it must be a nightmare. Having said this, us ex pats are of a different culture and therefore stick to our commitments generally, but the Turkish Cypriots seem to have no business acumen or "staying power". Businesses come and go with a change of wind . I know of a place who make their money during the summer season mostly from UK visitors yet have heard them damn and blast the expats attitude here. How strange, and what would that establishment do without us/them. A strange place to be. Allen

Well maybe some of the places should learn a lesson from Erol in Ozankoy.....consistantly good food and service and been going for years.....some can do it, but the majority can't. I cannot tell you how may times we have been to a 'new' restaurant and it has been brilliant, only to find on the next visit, rubbish.......I honestly think that they want to make a 'quick buck' and then give up.....but there are the good and well established ones....Erols, AlShaheen, Bellapais Gardens......and to be honest I am struggling now.....but newer ones, have to say Keyfi Sefa.....fantastic!! but you need a good appetite...

its up near GAU just follow the signs, No menu its what ever they want to give you that day lots of mezes hot and cold, main, fruit or dessert i think could not remeber by that point the whole place is normaly on the same course about the same time, always full, only brits are there before about 9 then it fills up with locals and there is live music, last time i was there it was lots a big parties all with bottles of raki and johnny walker black on the tables having a good old sing song of course in turkish

There are a couple of restaurants where standards and quality are always excellent, namely Ambiance and Veranda. Also for a stunning view and excellent cafe food, Kervan and of course Silver Rocks (which sadly closes in the winter). All these restaurants have been established for several years and in many ways just continue to get even better. Also agree about Errol's - limited menu but consistently high standards.

Fully agree with mrsgee. Erol has never let us down. I also agree with her other recommendations - AlShaheen, Bellapais Gardens.

Cant believe that Club Ilgaz hasnt been recommended, certainly the best food I have sampled and Sunday Lunch needs to be booked 2 weeks in advance, says it all.

Went there a couple of weeks back, service was fine as the young waiter fro Silver Rocks was attending, we all had real good food, plate full of lamb chops and couldn't ask for better ...

Shame the miserable owner doesn't make people as welcome, he needs to paste a smile of welcome on his face ! After all he wants customers, surely ...

I'm so sorry that Sardunya (not Sardinia - unless that a play on words!!) has not lived up to the original service and expectations of a couple of years back. It was great then and the best lamb chops I've had on the island. Obviously not the same at all now and its such a pity. Things seem to have gone wrong right from the time when he tried to build a small pier out from his own coast line and was made to dismantle it, stone by stone by Lapta Municipality.
