Pigeon Poo and Pools

Hi
Now I don't mind the birds drinking my pool water but I do object to them leaving their deposits every day

Would a artificial hawk or something of that ilk scare them away
Or any other solutions gratefully accepted

thanks
Mike

Met an ex-pat in Erulku the other week, who was purchasing about 20 Pool Noodles; on asking why so many, reply was that she attached them to grills around the pool to stop birds from getting to pool water and pooing. Apparently she has been doing this for 3 years and it works.

I know it's a bit late but a skimmer pool solves that problem. We encourage birds in our garden and love the dawn chorus as well as all the different species that wash and drink from our overflow pool. The downside is of course lots of birds droppings and crows' dropping huge chunks of stale bread to soften it up and staining the pool terrace badly after a mulberry supper, but we can't have it both ways.

Large owls work, they will keep pigeon's away, as to where to buy them, no idea

The internet is awash with images of pigeons feeding, drinking and roosting right next to a variety of bird scarers like plastic owls and peregrine kites.... Long-term the pigeons get used to them and they become superfluous. Only our dog is constantly annoyed and barks at them.... Which does not solve any problem and only creates another.

The sonic solutions will drive away all birds including the ones that feed on all the bugs eating your plants... It may also give your pets tinitus and make them miserable and or aggressive... These so called reviews are often money making promos that have no science behind them. Be wary of any such reviews with links that generate cash for the review site.

Our neighbour has a peregrine kite and doves breeding and nesting 20ft away... LOL.

Well when next you go to Nicosia, as you get to the roundabout, go 2nd exit and on your left is a very ornate red roof 3/4 story building, At each corner of the roof is what appears to be a large owl stature. There also appears to be a lack of Pigeons. I also remember a milk/dairy distribution business in Midland Road , Luton, they also had large owl statues on the roof, again it appeared to keep pigeons away. So maybe British Pigeons are more wary of owls.

They get used to the scarers. The only solution is to kill them as they are like flying rats. See if you can get a TC friend with an air rifle. Watch out for them nesting too.

Can only tc’s have air rifles or can anyone get one?

If that is the case, I might buy one of them nerf guns or really powerful water pistols all the kids seem to have these days.
