Just don't arrive in your pajamas
If the invitation arrived through your post box / letter box, and it is from a neighbour rather than a close friend, then it's a 'Pin on and Piss off' occasion - you pin some cash to the bride's dress, and you're done
If you're an 'honoured guest' then collar and tie are appropriate for Gents - Ladies know what to wear for a wedding without being told!

Depends on the venue how smart it will be!
If at a posh hotel then posh clothes or if it’s just plastic chairs in the village square come as you are.
As Keith says the tradition is ‘pin on & piss off’ when you did not get offered any refreshments whatsoever but the weddings have become more European style some with sit down dinners, entertainment, full bar when the ladies would mostly be in long or cocktail dresses
Suggest you try discrete enquiries to ascertain what format the event will be

Re: cypriot wedding dress code
Saw a documentary (Turkey) a few weeks back and the days of POPO weddings were no longer the norm for fear of damaging the brides attire. (village weddings and poorer weddings were still that way). Upmarket weddings had about 6 envelopes pinned on but under an archway the bride and groom stood and had what looked like two ornate waste paper baskets either side and people were placing their offerings into them. Be prepared to stand in the hot sun if the usual 200-300 have been invited. Have fun.

Went to a well known Cypriot family wedding a couple of years ago, over 3,500 people invited and the queue tailed outside the venue for a good 4 hours.
Must say, I did have a good time.

Bet it wasn't in the hot sun though? Back in Crete we went to one similar to your description. It was the daughter of the owner of the small hotel chain and every holidaymaker in all the hotels and the village were invited. I don't think we got to see the bride and groom and my feet were killing me.
