I lost my innocence yesterday
After visiting every year for the last 14 years and then moving here 3 months ago, I have always felt very safe here and have never felt I had been fiddled etc (apart from one visit to the barbers a few years ago - but that's a different story)
Well yesterday I was going for a early evening trip to the beach to join some friends when I picked up two young Turkish Lads (in their 20's - said they were from Istanbul)
My bag with towel etc was on the back seat and 230tl in the zip pocket - Yes you've guessed it - when they got out at Girni I noticed the zip was open and my money was gone.
i felt angry at first then annoyed with myself and then sad that it had happened here.
it wont stop me picking people up but I will just be careful where I leave my stuff in the car when i do.

So sorry ThePresident this has happened to you and it makes me sorrier that the TRNC has reached this state. When we first moved here 14+ years ago I used to pick up all and sundry, and sometimes was handed a few eggs or whatever for having done so. Nowadays (until yesterday) I pick up absolutely no one. regardless of age or sex of the person/people concerned. I broke my own rules yesterday and picked up a young (turned out to be Russian girl) who apparently lived in the same road as myself. I only drove her half a Km. In this heat I feel bad going past people though.

The President - you said 'Turkish' - was this a blanket term or were they possibly Turkish Cypriots?
I don't know that it matters a great deal, just being 'picky'

The one in the front was trying to talk to me - claimed he could not speak much English - we "talked" about Turkish football and Premier League.kerry 6138 wrote:Keithcaley wrote:The President - you said 'Turkish' - was this a blanket term or were they possibly Turkish Cypriots?

Did not appear to be local lads
