The driver exitted Mr Pound going in the Lapta direction :(

Unfortunately, at around 6pm yesterday, the driver came out of the Mr Pound, on the by-pass, going in the Lapta direction. The other car was on the correct side of the dual-carriageway. Both cars were write-offs. 4 people were injured, the daughter of the driver-at-fault quite seriously

It was probably a driver more used to driving in Turkey. And yes, I appreciate that if it were the UK, then there would be proper slip-roads on to such a dual-carriageway, with signs to make it clear one was going in the wrong direction. But it's the TR of NC, a place we all love, quirks and all.

I presume now you mean the extension to Lapta. As stated on that thread, the road-widening plan to Lapta will/can not be ideal, but there is now nothing else that can be done to relieve the traffic there. As to the Lapta extension being a "fast" road, no one has ever suggested that ... but a little faster than snail-pace would be appreciated by most.

Doesn't look like the people in the red car had seatbelts on, judging by the windscreen. When we people learn that they do save lives in a lot if cases.

Her name was Kiyafet Deveci, a Turkish name. I would thus presume she is indeed Turkish ... and was more used to driving in Turkey

There were two other passengers in the car with the driver-at-fault - a 49-year-old woman and an 13-year old girl. The girl was the one that was seriously injured. One thus presumes she was in the back seat ... without a belt on

Not only do we regularly see people driving without a seat belt on invariably on the phone but often with an infant sat on their knee. I presume this is an additional airbag.

I assume that Ms Deveci must be related to someone important as her action was reported in Cyprus Today as exiting the Mr Pound car park "carelessly." Careless is shutting your coat in the car door not pulling out on to a dual carriageway in the wrong direction.
