Ants ate my friend’s linen shirt!!
She hung it up on the front of her wardrobe last night, intending to wear again today.
This morning ants had made 3 holes, one over 1 cm across we had never seen this before & I would not have believed her had she not saved the shirt along with a few of the offenders.

They only do that to fine clothing. They never touch mine. Ever.

Normally you would have thought it was moths. Fascinating creatures, but not in the house. Advise to get clove essential oil from a pharmacy. Make up a spray with a few drops of oil in water and spray around affected areas. Always shake the bottle before using. Cotton balls dipped in the solution and place in wardrobes/drawers, refresh every so often. This should deter them. Spraying directly on the ants kills them.

They also ate our courgette flowers (but I forgive them, it's not worth holding a grudge).

Give the clove oil a try, it really does work for me, been using it for a few years now. Spray it on kitchen counters, around doorways, tiles....wherever the wee beggars are getting in really. It's quite economical to use, a bottle will last ages.Reyntj wrote:My wifes fuming about the ants in the house ive put mint and lavender plants where they where coming in which seemed to deter them fir a bit but there all over the place

The headline took me a minute. I remember the headline Freddie Starr eat my hampster when he went off the rails so I wondered how low had Ant McPartlin sunk
