Just to let as many of our members know as possible, that the library is temporarily closed. We went in to do our usual Friday working stint this morning and there wasa lake in the end room plus a large hole in the ceiling where it had collapsed.

We have been advised that the whole roof needs major repair which cannot be done until the weather improves.

We are urgently seeking temporary premises and will update the website when we have some better news

Just be thankful it happened when nobody was underneath the ceiling! I hope there was not too much damage to the books.

So sorry to hear that. But is it worth mov ing if you are able to get the roof repaired. It would be a HUGE HASSLE TO MOVE AND THEN MOVE BACK. I hope you manage to get something sorted, but I am afraid I cannot think of any premises - unless the Mayor allowed you to use the old library! That would be a very kind bit of entente cordiale.
