I'm sure there will be some that will comment that it's just a waste of money and/or the local drivers are only likely to slow down in its location outside the law courts, however to be the bearer of more pleasant news for once, rather than what I usually post, I thought it would be nice for you guys to read/see this:
In Lefkoşa's old city, between the law courts and the post office, we now have a zebra crossing, painted to give a 3-D effect, as shown by the photo below. In any case, Lefkoşa's mayor, Mehmet Harmancı, is clearly very happy with the crossing ... as you can read for yourself if you go to his Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/mehmet.harmanci.54 .

Such crossings, of course, can only be painted on one-way streets. See this youtube video, if you like:

I wonder how many people will screech to a halt because they don't want to hit this thing - 3D is great if you don't have monocular vision! If this was in UK I would imagine lots of people trying to pick it up and take it home - lol.

These crossing really do work I believe. Recently I saw a load of different designs in Japan and other countries and traffic certainly slowed down, even vehicles that frequently use that piece of road. They use them in some corridors in schools and they work there as well.

The only way this would work outside the Lemar at Karakum is if it was REAL 3D and the white bits were around 50 cm high - then the traffic may take notice but not even sure they would stop because they had to. The police cars seem to delight in getting as close to pedestrians as possible on that crossing point!!
