Where is everyone

Have I missed something?
I live in the centre of Girne on a rat-run of a road, but today it is worryingly quite, if 20 cars have driven along today that’s an exaggeration – barber across the road from me has spent the day drinking coffee outside his shop, the café next door has had no- one go to its door and looks closed, the supermarket which has delivery vehicles almost 24 hours a day has had none, my communal swimming pool which is normally full with children splashing about and shouting at the top of their voices is deserted, my neighbours who are always about and who speak across our balconies have not set foot outside, there is no noise, in fact there is very little sound at all and the air is unnervingly still.
Have I gone deaf, or is there something going on today in Girne which I am missing where all the people have gone to? Or should I just be thankful for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing Sunday!

There is an 'august' effect here I think, whereby this is the month where many people flee either Cyprus all together or the 'cities' ?

I love Sundays.... not much traffic...bliss.... been into Kyrenia…. went shopping... bliss....I think everyone goes to the beach... if you go to Alagadi, Tatlisu, kaplica, or the picnic sites, I think you might find where they have all gone.
