Russian lady saga

Wow, whilst this has all been going on I have been trying my best to stay cool from the heat of the Sun. I have this morning spent 2 hours reading through the thread (now split) on Rude Person/Lady/Human/Russian. We all have to understand that when we post on the forum, we are not communicating face to face and sometimes what we write can be misinterpreted, as can what I am posting now. I am not taking sides and can see both Elizabeth's argument (IMO, saw no wrong in what she had posted) and Erol's initial enquiry, proof as to how one may interpret things differently, predictably causing personal discomfort to both parties. This has by no means been the first, and may not be the last, but it is times like this that makes me feel whether running the forum is at all worth the trouble? The forum thrives on members contributing, it thrives on members having alternative ideologies, unfortunately it sometimes thrives on members having misunderstandings and arguments; the proof is in the high number of hits a thread may achieve. When things start to go pear shaped, please simply PM me and ask for the thread to be locked or removed, it really is not a problem for me. I would rather this than loosing a member and/or a moderator or contemplate shutting the forum down.

When something bad or uncomfortable happens, it's nice to be able to share that experience to get support and/or dissipate the hurt or anger one might be feeling. I believe this forum is excellent in that regard. It is inevitable that other members will want to post their six-penneth and it might not always be the response the original poster wants or expects. Sally and I had an horrific car crash last weekend. Our car was written off in a head-on crash with a Turkish soldier driving on the wrong side of the road. I did not put the details on this forum because I did not want to stir up vitriol. Our seat-belts saved our lives, the soldier in question was devastated and he and his friends took us home from Lefkosa hospital emergency at 5am last Sunday morning, after we were told that there was no long-term damage to ourselves. We had MRI scans, X-rays, blood tests, tetanus shots and a lot of tlc, all for free, I might add. An ear, nose and throat doctor came from home to examine us. We missed the police by a few moments at the scene of the crash, as the ambulance took us away. We were both dripping blood so had to go immediately, The ambulance arrived after only two minutes as we were a short drive from Camlibel health centre, where one is always on standby. When we made our statements to the police, they said that all the man could say on the night was "Sorry, sorry, sorry" with his head in his hands.

We travelled back to the UK yesterday so I missed all of the nonsense. I have posted in Erol's leaving thread but will just add here.

First of all Soner whilst I understand the situation you face I would just like to say that your and your tea's efforts make a huge positive impact on a lot of member's lives out here in the TRNC and we would be much poorer without those efforts. I am sure there will be a few quiet days again before the next onslaught of madness. Tremendous forum and a credit to all involved not least you so a vote of thanks from me.

Frontalman I know we often don't see eye to eye but I am pleased that you and your wife are OK after your accident. I hope that the coming weeks are not too difficult for you when you are next on the road. I am just pleased the driver of the other car wasn't a member of the BRS!

Wow, that sounds horrific. Hope your wife and you have a speedy recovery.

Definitely puts things into perspective. Life is short, be happy, try not to get stressed people.

I must admit my immediate thought was that this was another Princess Diana jobby. When you challenge the deep state British Establishment (BRS) this is the kind of thing that can happen. However, if he was MI5 it was a very good disguise

Glad you survived the hit from the military industrial complex or BRS as they are better known.

I find that the longer people drive the more bad habits they get into. So if you had more bad habits than good habits to start with because of poor training of the basics such as road awareness, the problem can only get worse.

Frontalman, so sorry to learn about your dreadful accident, both of us wish you a speedy recovery. Thankfully a car exiting the GAU school on the byepass, nearly had the same fate last week but the driver realised just in time what she was about to do and corrected herself.

We followed a lady about to turn right from Mr Pound on the bypass on Thursday, just where there was a major smash-up two weeks ago. I hit the horn and she realised what she was about to do, then corrected herself. There should be a much larger sign warning of the danger there.

N.B. I mention that she was a lady, because she was a lady, and not because I am prejudiced towards non-men.
