Tempo - Esentepe
Does anyone know what is going on. Nothing on the shelves. It was so promising when it first opened, you could do a weekly shop. Good selection then, no so now.

Same in Catalkoy. Too much competition maybe.

Tempo in Karaoglanoglu is sort of OK these days, but not a patch on what it was 3 or 4 years ago.

No stock is normally associated with the supply era bills not being paid so it’s COD only.
The store has been like this for months now and frankly they don’t appear to be concerned.

Re: Tempo - Esentepe
No surprise re this store, they have been like this for many months with no stock on the shelves and things not price marked. He has lost his usual butcher and the quality of the meat isn't great either.
I believe a new Lemar with a Burger City is being constructed almost opposite the the entrance to Turtle Bay about half a mile past the Chemist. View the billboards, it says town houses and shops. Once this is open the life of Tempo will be short lived, if in fact he lasts that long.

Re: Tempo - Esentepe
The shelves in Esentepe are even more empty than normal. I asked the manager yesterday ıf they were getting ready to close down and the answer was NO. The staff haven't been paıd for a couple of months so that may explaın why the staff don't appear to be very happy.

Maybe because the owner is busy enjoying himself in Istanbul with his boyfriend.

The one good thing about Tempo (Karaoglanoglu) is they have a separate check out for 10 items or under. That really is worth it.

Don't think that would work in the Esentepe branch. If someone walked in and bought 10 items it would empty the store completely.

Their leading brand is fresh air.
It’s a shambles.

I was gonna say, but you beat me to it Geoff.Geoff1131 wrote:Don't think that would work in the Esentepe branch. If someone walked in and bought 10 items it would empty the store completely.
I was last there early June but there was a lot of choice then so this downward trend must be a recent thing. It is nice and local for Tatlisu where we were at the time and Esentepe where we will be early October as it saved going all the way to Sah Marketplace. If there's gonna be a Lemar and Burger City soon that will be a good thing.

Neither Lemar and especially so, Burger City, can seriously garner any recommendation. Soon the Esentepe environs will mirror the Lapta Strip area. There are at least 30 restaurants/bars in the Esentepe - Kucuk Erenkoy area and at least three markets in both Esentepe and Tatlisu, plus similar facilities exist on the Turtle and Turquoise Bay complex.MnM wrote:I was gonna say, but you beat me to it Geoff.Geoff1131 wrote:Don't think that would work in the Esentepe branch. Fate worse than death if it ends up looking like Lapta Strip, it even has a "Night Club" slap bang in the middle of it. There are a couple of exceptions though.

I hadn't thought of it that way tomsteel and i must admit i do agree, unfortunately though, developers and governments will plough on with whatever they want to do regardless.tomsteel wrote:

Indeed they will. Their thought process will seriously harm tourism and expat property purchase, as several other Mediterranean-based countries experienced. Hey ho, 'tis their country to with as they see fit. We are leaving next year after 11+ plus years of peace, but we despair of how progress is actually regression and there is no mechanism/policy to control the mayhem ensuing. Girne's failing infrastructure, traffic problems, hospital overuse, fly-tipping, rubbish, etc are prime examples and the misuse of public funding have forced our hand. Best wishes to those remaining though.

And to you on your next venture. Never met you but i'm sure you'll be missed, and miss. I'm out 30th Sept in Esentepe hopefully if we complete by then so might bump into you if you're still there. If not, at least it's a few less sausages for the house warming party lol.tomsteel wrote:Best wishes to those remaining though.

I love it here! It's great! Well, in Gecitkale anyway. No traffic, no parking restrictions. Unmar in Iskele well stocked up. Erulku, 15 mins away, fully loaded. Odd trip to Sah on a nice day out to Girne, then stock up from veg stall on main road not far from Acapulco. Not forgetting Best Butchers on my journeys.
Shhhhhh..... wouldn't want to ruin it.

Definitely; soon as we get a car (in a few days), Yusuf is first port of call! (too far away to walk or use dolmus...)Soner wrote:....Not forgetting Best Butchers on my journeys.

Might be too late. It will take a long time to build trade up. It must be so dishearting for the staff, to answer repeated questions from the weary customers. One would of thought the owner would have designated the task of stock and order to another before he took to travelling, we are not talking of a couple of weeks here. Cannot stock and order be done on internet.
Look forward to his return and a well stocked shop.
