Don't get your hopes up, from what I saw last year of students registering they had to queue to use a computer set up in the government offices (observed at the Girne tax office and the Lefkoşa office where you get driving licences from). Doubt we will be able to do it from the comfort of our own homesalphamike wrote: Going through all the hoops and changes is a total pain, in the way that you have to do residency at the moment. Going online and registering would be a great thing by my reckoning. At the moment, this is just a plan, and nothing has been set in law, so absolutely nothing to get in a twist about.

Re: BRS does not speak for me
Now why didn't I think of that one? Thank you so much for the warning though, much appreciated. I don't expect that it will be introduced before I am 80 though, knowing this place. Someone once said to me that a Cypriot was asked if there was a word here as in the Spanish "manana", oh no, nothing so urgent, was the response.JoandJelly wrote: Don't get your hopes up, from what I saw last year of students registering they had to queue to use a computer set up in the government offices (observed at the Girne tax office and the Lefkoşa office where you get driving licences from). RR, I have not received anything.
Sorry Mrs. Gee , I am not very good with IT and I do find the means of sending pms here very confusing so presumably I pressed to wrong button in error and the pms to you and "Posh" have got lost in the ether!. I will redo them when I have time but an under pressure on a domestic issue at the moment. The delay wont be an issue with you as they were simply to explain why you had been both been hurtful - I am sure inadvertantly - but I have learned the hard waynot to put personal problems on this board.

RR, please do not bother, I cannot see how I have been hurtful at all, simply making a point.

Welcome back to the fray!frontalman wrote:There were two doors - one marked 'Heaven' and one marked 'Lecture on Heaven'.
All the BRS members were queuing up for the lecture.
We are all entitled to make our own choices and assess the risk to us in doing so. So what we choose does not need to be either acceptable to you nor even worth you bothering yourself with really. I think the BRS have explained what their part in all of this was and hopefully that should put an end to this speculation and random rants. Moving on.

Probably because they think the British are exceptional and superior to the mere continentals and other nationalities that make up The Foreign Residents!frontalman wrote: I don't understand why there still is a BRS, they should amalgamate with the foreign residents to form one society to represent all foreign residents. That would make sense. I am unbelievably livid at the moment.

The BRS did try and amalgamate with the Tfr twice but were refused. Tfr preferred to stay separate.

Thats interestriong, I was told it was the BRS that didn't want to merge wih TFR!terry2366 wrote:The BRS did try and amalgamate with the Tfr twice but were refused. Tfr preferred to stay separate.
TFR does actually have quite a few British members, as well as about 30 other nationalities! They are a nice welcoming group and without the 'raj mentality' that is still present in the BRS (though not as bad as it was 10 years age).

Does anyone believe that the BRS are beyond reproach and should not be subject to scrutiny? Stephen Day does apparently.

I was invited to be guest speaker on the topic "Our twilight years", but I couldn't think of what to say.
